PcWRKY1 Represses Transcription of Yellow Stripe‐Like 3 (PcYSL3) to Negatively Regulate Radial Cadmium Transport in Poplar Stems

open access: yesAdvanced Science
A considerable amount of cadmium (Cd) can accumulate in the bark of poplar stems, but the Cd transport pathway and its underlying molecular mechanisms remain unknown.

Carotenoid‐Rich Pigment Extract From Micrococcus terreus SK34 Induces Apoptosis in SH‐SY5Y Neuroblastoma Cells: Integrated Metabolomic, Molecular Docking, and Experimental Validation

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
Carotenoid extract from Micrococcus terreus SK34 was characterized by LC‐Q‐TOF‐MS and evaluated for its in vitro anticancer potential. The extract exhibited selective cytotoxicity against different cancer cell lines, particularly neuroblastoma cells (SH‐SY5Y), while sparing normal cells.

Physiological and transcriptomic analysis of yellow leaf coloration in Populus deltoides Marsh.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Populus deltoides Marsh has high ornamental value because its leaves remain yellow during the non-dormant period. However, little is known about the regulatory mechanism of leaf coloration in P. deltoides Marsh.

A Robust Framework for Maize Elite Line Genome Editing Through Enhanced HI‐Edit via LbCas12a Activity Optimization

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 10, Page 5392-5404, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Haploid induction coupled with genome editing (HI‐Edit) enables direct modification of commercial crop varieties, bypassing the need for trait introgression or direct transformation of elite lines with CRISPR machinery. However, its widespread application has been constrained by low haploid editing rates (HER), the proportion of haploids ...

Alley cropping opportunities and research priorities in orchard systems: A case study in northern California

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
Abstract Alley cropping is the production of annual and perennial cash crops between orchard trees. Despite its documented benefits, adoption of alley cropping in California remains limited. This paper describes a long‐term commercial alley cropping system in northern California and identifies research areas that can support this practice.
