A unique Yellow River-derived distal subaqueous delta in the Yellow Sea

Marine Geology, 2007
Abstract Newly acquired high-resolution Chirp sonar profiles reveal a unique Yellow River-derived, alongshore distributed, bidirectional (landward and seaward) across-shelf transported, omega-shaped (“Ω”) distal subaqueous deltaic lobe deposited around the eastern tip of the Shandong Peninsula in the Yellow Sea.

Evaluation of wetland ecosystem services value of the yellow river delta

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2021
Analyzing and evaluating the ecosystem service value of wetlands can provide technical support and theoretical basis for regional socio-economic development, ecological environmental protection, and other planning measures. Based on the factors of hydrology, meteorology, society, economy, resources, environment, and culture, the wetland ecosystem ...

Land subsidence of the Yellow River Delta in China driven by river sediment compaction

Science of The Total Environment, 2021
Many of the world's largest deltas are sinking due to multiple natural and anthropogenic causes. This is particularly evident for the modern Yellow River Delta (YRD) in China, which is one of the most dynamic coastal systems on Earth. The YRD has experienced complicated patterns of accretion and erosion as well as significant compaction settlements ...

Air-discharge pits on the Yellow River delta plain

Sedimentary Geology, 2004
Abstract A large number of air-discharge pits, varying in size and shape, are developed on the Yellow River delta. Their planar cross-sections are circular, sub-circular, elongated and frequently irregular and their spatial configurations may be in form of a shallow dish to root like or other, extremely irregular, shapes.

Historical changes in the Yellow River delta, China

Marine Geology, 1993
Abstract The lower Yellow River delta has experienced numerous avulsions during the last 2000 years and the floodplain can be divided into four provinces: alluvial fan, western plain, middle plain and eastern plain (coastal deltas). The Yellow River delta complex is composed of several delta superlobes resulting from shifts in the lower river channel,

Erosion Survey of the Modern Yellow River Delta

2019
In this chapter, the erosion status of the subaqueous Yellow River Delta is quantitatively detected according to the yearly observed topographic profiles. Accurate data about beach evolution were achieved by ten in situ measurements which were taken from the abandoned lobe beach in the north of the Yellow River Delta from December 2008 to December 2009.

Sedimentary framework of the modern Huanghe (Yellow River) delta

Geo-Marine Letters, 1986
The geometry, stratigraphy, and structure of recently deposited Huanghe (Yellow River) Delta sediments were examined by high resolution subbottom profiles and medium-penetration boomer profiles. The results indicate that the active (post-1976) subaqueous delta advances as a single thin localized lobe with a maximum thickness of only 15 m.

The subaqueous delta of the modern Huanghe (Yellow River)

Geo-Marine Letters, 1986
The subaqueous delta of the Huanghe (Yellow River) has been studied using high-resolution acoustic systems. There are many subtle variations in sea floor morphology and sediment geometries; smooth, featureless areas are rare. The main components of the subaqueous delta include broad, shallow channels; moderately disturbed areas with near-surface cut ...

Consolidation Settlement of the Modern Yellow River Subaqueous Delta

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
In this paper, the consolidation settlement and settlement rate were studied based on the drilling data of the Yellow River subaqueous delta. The results show that surface sediments of ZK-2 are significantly coarsen than ZK-1, and correspondingly with varying physical and mechanical properties in different cores.

Health diagnosis for the Yellow River delta wetland, China

2011 Second International Conference on Mechanic Automation and Control Engineering, 2011
On the seaboard of Shouguang County, the Judian lake wetland had existed in history, but now has died out. The evolution of the lake wetland was closely linked with the variance of geographic environment. Based on the method of the historical geography, the authors study the evolution of the lake wetland.
