Nonlinear refractive index change of photoactive yellow protein

Optics Communications, 1998
Abstract The nonlinear refractive index change of photoactive yellow protein (PYP) was examined by measuring the shape of an originally Gaussian-shaped laser beam after it had propagated through a PYP-film. An unique reshaping of the beam profile was observed.

Trends analysis on eco-hydraulics indexes of the mainstream of the Yellow River

2011 International Symposium on Water Resource and Environmental Protection, 2011
Ecological hydraulics indexes such as water level, water depth and cross-section shapes etc., contain important ecological information, so studying the evolution process of these indexes is very significant to study the development trends of river ecological system under the influence of human activities in the future and formulate the rivers ...

Application of the Water Poverty Index at the Districts of Yellow River Basin

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
As one assessment method of the water resources, Water Poverty Index has become an available tool in water resources management for it simply calculation process, comprehensive understanding of the results. This paper introduces the concept of the Water Poverty Index, and applies it at these districts of Yellow River Basin by using equal weightings ...

Estimation of the melatonin suppression index through clear and yellow-tinted intraocular lenses

Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
To estimate the melatonin suppression index (MSI), which may reflect the nonvisual photoreception function, through commercially available foldable, clear and yellow-tinted intraocular lenses (IOLs).The MSIs for 13 IOL models (6 clear IOLs, 7 yellow-tinted IOLs) with three lens powers were calculated based on previously reported data about the ...

Assessment of ecosystem health of the Yellow River with fish index of biotic integrity

Hydrobiologia, 2015
Fish-based index of biotic integrity (F-IBI) is widely used to assess river ecosystems. With survey data from the Yellow River fishery resources in the 1980s and 2008, fish composition and abundance, vertical distribution, trophic structure, reproductive guilds and tolerance in the river’s upstream, midstream, downstream, and estuary were examined, and

Controlling the Refractive Index of Epoxy Adhesives With Acceptable Yellowing After Aging

Journal of the American Institute for Conservation, 1993
AbstractMixtures of Ablebond and HXTAL NYL-l were found to produce epoxies with a range of refractive indexes from 1.515 to 1.565. Their yellowing after dark aging is measured and determined to be acceptable for glass repair.

Prediction of Site Index for Yellow Poplar from Soil and Topography

Journal of Forestry, 1945
Abstract Yellow poplar is one of the most valuable hardwoods; but it is also one of the most exacting in site requirements. This article analyzes the influence of some simple features of soil and topography on site index for the species and presents a key for use in appraising yellow poplar sites.

A New Normalized Difference Index for Estimating Leaf Area Index of Wheat Under Yellow Rust Stress

Sensor Letters, 2012
The aim of this paper is to design a new normalized difference vegetation index, which is insensitive to pigment contents and relative water contents, but is sensitive to leaf area index (LAI). The canopy reflectance of winter wheat which was infected with yellow rust of different severities, and the LAI, canopy chlorophyll density (CCD) and relative ...

Effects of Refractive Index and Viscosity on Fluorescence and Anisotropy Decays of Enhanced Cyan and Yellow Fluorescent Proteins

Journal of Fluorescence, 2005
The fluorescence lifetime strongly depends on the immediate environment of the fluorophore. Time-resolved fluorescence measurements of the enhanced forms of ECFP and EYFP in water-glycerol mixtures were performed to quantify the effects of the refractive index and viscosity on the fluorescence lifetimes of these proteins. The experimental data show for

Use of Icterus Index and Bromsulphalein Test in Experimental Yellow Fever

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine, 1931
In studying yellow fever in experimentally infected Macacus rhesus it is most desirable to have something more than the temperature curve, appetite, and general appearance of the monkeys, upon which to base a working diagnosis and a prognosis of the disease.
