Sensitive Multispectral Variable Screening Method and Yield Prediction Models for Sugarcane Based on Gray Relational Analysis and Correlation Analysis

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Sugarcane yield prediction plays a pivotal role in enabling farmers to monitor crop development and optimize cultivation practices, guiding harvesting operations for sugar mills. In this study, we established three experimental fields, which were planted

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Simulation of strawberry yield using dry matter distribution based on the potential growth of the sink–source organs

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Strawberry, a vital crop in horticulture, faces challenges like pest infestations and climate variability that affect stable production. A crop model based on photosynthesis-derived dry matter (DM) production is an effective method to examine the ...

Ionization Yield from Nuclear Recoils in Liquid-Xenon Dark Matter Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The ionization yield in the two-phase liquid xenon dark-matter detector has been studied in keV nuclear-recoil energy region. The newly-obtained nuclear quenching as well as the recently-measured average energy required to produce an electron-ion pair ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Utilizing vegetation indices with optimal wavelengths to predict nitrogen uptake at the flowering stage and wheat yield

open access: yesPlant Production Science
Techniques for determining the amount of nitrogen topdressing based on remote sensing during the flowering stage of wheat require highly accurate yield predictions. Optimal wavelength combinations for accurately predicting nitrogen uptake and wheat yield

Does the Yield Spread Predict the Output Gap in the U.S.? [PDF]

open access: yes
Yes, but only at short horizons from 1 to 3 quarters over the full post-World War II sample. The predictive relation between the yield spread and the output gap is characterized by parameter instability.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
