Yield Curve Prediction for the Strategic Investor [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2005
This paper presents a new framework allowing strategic investors to generate yield curve projections contingent on expectations about future macroeconomic scenarios. By consistently linking the shape and location of yield curves to the state of the economy our method generates predictions for the full yield-curve distribution under different ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Assessing Maize Yield Spatiotemporal Variability Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Machine Learning

open access: yesGeomatics
Optimizing the prediction of maize (Zea mays L.) yields in smallholder farming systems enhances crop management and thus contributes to reducing hunger and achieving one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 2—zero hunger). This research investigated

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Optimal Timing of Carrot Crop Monitoring and Yield Assessment Using Sentinel-2 Images: A Machine-Learning Approach

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Remotely sensed images provide effective sources for monitoring crop growth and the early prediction of crop productivity. To monitor carrot crop growth and yield estimation, three 27 ha center-pivot irrigated fields were studied to develop yield ...

Artificial intelligence approach for the prediction of Robusta coffee yield using soil fertility properties

open access: yes, 2018
As a commodity for daily consumption, coffee plays a crucial role in the economy of several African, American and Asian countries; yet, the accurate prediction of coffee yield based on environmental, climatic and soil fertility conditions remains a ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Can Agrometeorological Indices of Adverse Weather Conditions Help to Improve Yield Prediction by Crop Models?

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2014
The impact of adverse weather conditions (AWCs) on crop production is random in both time and space and depends on factors such as severity, previous agrometeorological conditions, and plant vulnerability at a specific crop development stage.
