Ultrasonographic measurement of the yolk sac
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1982Summary. Ultrasonographic measurements of the yolk sac were made during first trimester in 100 pregnancies. The results were related to the crown‐rump length of the embryos and showed an increase in size from 7 to 11 weeks menstrual age. A possible relation between anomalies in yolk sac development and embryonic development was studied in six patients

Histopathology, 1995
We report the second known case of yolk sac tumour of the external auditory canal, occurring in an eight‐month‐old girl. The excised tumour demonstrated histopathological and immunohistochemical features identical to those of yolk sac tumours of gonadal origin. The tumour was aneuploid by flow cytometry.

Sonographic Evaluation of the Yolk Sac
Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, 2012This pictorial essay aims to inform related clinicians by summarizing the normal and abnormal sonographic findings of the yolk sac in the first trimester of pregnancy. An abnormality in the sonographic appearance of a yolk sac can predict subsequent embryonic death or abnormalities. Therefore, the accurate recognition of normal and abnormal sonographic

SYNOPSISThis is a report of a rare, very malignant ovarian tumour occurring in a 12 year old Italian girl.An aggressive approach was adopted which included excision of the primary tumour under cover of chemotherapy, followed by a second exploratory laparotomy, and excision of a single pulmonary metastasis.

The human yolk sac and yolk sac carcinoma. An ultrastructural study.
Human pathology, 1977The ultrastructure of the yolk sac of a 39 day old human embryo was studied. The subcellular organization was suggestive of a highly specialized absorptive function proceeding in an exocelomic-viteline direction. These findings, compatible with intense metabolic activity, are at variance with the concept of rapid involution of the yolk sac following ...

The ultrastructure of feline yolk sacs from 11 stages between the 14th and the 66th day is described with reference to the endoderm and the mesothelium; supplementary histochemical and cytochemical studies are included. Despite the absence of yolk, the endodermal epithelium shows a high degree of differentiation and activity, especially in the period ...

Yolk sac fluid and yolk sac membrane enzymes in the marsupial, Macropus eugenii
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1974Abstract 1. 1. Yolk sac membrane incorporated radiocarbon into hexose phosphates, amino acids and several intermediates of the glycolytic pathway and tricarboxylic acid cycle. Yolk sac fluid likewise incorporated radiocarbon, but into fewer compounds. 2. 2.
