Young’s modulus in nanostructured metals

International Journal of Materials Research, 2003
Abstract The interface effect on Young’s modulus was investigated in electro-deposited fully-dense Ni –P alloys with a relatively constant phosphorus content (2– 3 wt%), but with different grain sizes ranging from 4 to 29 nm. Essentially the same Young’s modulus was observed for grain sizes ≥ 18 nm.

Young's modulus of compact bone

Journal of Biomechanics, 1974
Abstract The Young's modulus of longitudinal bovine tibia compact bone specimens (both ‘wet’ and ‘dry’) has been determined with two different microstrain measuring techniques.

Young's modulus of NbSe3

Solid State Communications, 1978
Abstract Using the Barmatz vibrating reed technique we have measured the Young's modulus of NbSe3. An anomaly is observed at T1 (142 K) but not at T2 (58 K). Taken together with published specific heat data our results provide upper (lower) bounds for the anisotropy of the transition-temperature-stress-dependence at T1 (T2).

On Young’s Modulus for Anisotropic Media

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1995
If a piece of homogeneous anisotropic elastic material is subject to simple tension along a direction n for which Young’s modulus E(n) is an extremum, then the corresponding strain field is coaxial with the simple tension stress field. An appropriate set of rectangular cartesian coordinate axes may be introduced such that three of the elastic ...

Experimental Young’s Modulus Calculations

1994
Coil is a very important magnet component. The turn location and the coil size impact both mechanical and magnetic behavior of the magnet. The Young’s modulus plays a significant role in determining the coil location and size. Therefore, Young’s modulus study is essential in predicting both the analytical and practical magnet behavior.

About Young's Modulus in arterial rheology

Experientia, 1963
Die klassische Auffassung des Youngschen Modulus kann nicht auf die Rheologie der Arterien angewendet werden. Der Autor diskutiert die notwendigen Korrekturen und weist auf die Grenze eines mechanischen Modells hin.

Young’s modulus reduction of defective nanotubes

Applied Physics Letters, 2007
In this letter the author calculate, by applying fracture mechanics, Young’s modulus reduction for a nanotube, imposed by the presence of nanodefects, with specified size, shape, and number. The results are compared with atomistic and continuum simulations.
