Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

ESO–VLT and Spitzer spectroscopy of IRAS 05328−6827: a massive young stellar object in the Large Magellanic Cloud [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We present the first thermal-infrared spectra of an extra-galactic Young Stellar Object (YSO), IRAS05328 6827 in the H ii region LHA120-N148 in the Large Magellanic Cloud.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

VLT/ERIS Observations of the V960 Mon System: A Dust-embedded Substellar Object Formed by Gravitational Instability?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
V960 Mon is an FU Orionis object that shows strong evidence of a gravitationally unstable spiral arm that is fragmenting into several dust clumps. We report the discovery of a new substellar companion candidate around this young star, identified in high ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Gaia23bab: A New EXor

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
On 2023 March 6, the Gaia telescope alerted a 2 mag burst from Gaia23bab, a young stellar object in the Galactic plane. We observed Gaia23bab with the Large Binocular Telescope obtaining optical and near-infrared spectra close in time to the peak of the ...

The evoluation of young stellar object disks and their environment [PDF]

open access: yes
By carrying out direct imaging and spectroscopic observations of young, pre-main sequence stars in nearby molecular clouds researchers have begun: to define the frequency with which disks of approximately solar system size and mass form around young ...

The Rotating Molecular Core and Precessing Outflow of the Young Stellar Object Barnard 1c [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We investigate the structure of the core surrounding the recently identified deeply embedded young stellar object Barnard 1c. B1c lies within the Perseus molecular cloud at a distance of 250 pc.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

The Vertical Metallicity Gradient of the Galactic Disk for Mono-age Stellar Populations in LAMOST

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The vertical metallicity gradient of the Galactic disk offers valuable insights into the disk’s formation and chemical evolution over time. We utilized the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fibre Spectroscopic Telescope low-resolution spectral young stellar ...
