An X-Ray Shell Reveals the Supernova Explosion for Galactic Microquasar SS 433

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
How black holes are formed remains an open and fundamental question in astrophysics. Despite theoretical predictions, it lacks observations to understand whether the black hole formation experiences a supernova explosion.

A Simulative Approach for the Prediction of Mesoscale Residual Stress Fields in Solution‐Strengthened Ferritic Ductile Iron

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a 3D representative volume element‐based simulation approach to predict mesoscopic residual stress and strain fields in silicon solid solution‐strengthened ductile cast iron. By modeling phase transformation kinetics with an enhanced Johnson–Mehl–Avrami–Kolmogorov model, the effects of varying cooling rates on residual stresses are ...

Can Slow Pulsars in Milky Way Globular Clusters Form via Partial Recycling?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Alongside the population of several hundred radio millisecond pulsars currently known in Milky Way globular clusters, a subset of six slowly spinning pulsars (spin periods 0.3–4 s) are also observed.

Residual Stress States in Microstructurally Graded PBF–LB/M Austenitic Steel Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines microstructurally graded 316L rectangular tube profiles fabricated via PBF–LB/M using a dual‐laser system. A 1 kW top‐hat and a 400 W Gaussian laser create distinct grain sizes and crystallographic texture. Mechanical properties are linked to microstructural evolution driven by processing conditions.

The Radiowave Hunt for Young Stellar Object Emission and Demographics (RADIOHEAD): A Radio Luminosity–Spectral Type Dependence in Taurus–Auriga YSOs

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We measure the radio continuum fluxes at the locations of all Gaia-confirmed members of Taurus–Auriga using Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array Sky Survey data (VLASS; 2–4 GHz, σ _VLASS  ~ 110–140 μ Jy, 2 $\mathop{.}\limits^{\unicode{x02033}}$ 5 resolution ...

On the Deformation Behavior of Metastable CrMnNi Steels Processed by Directed Energy Deposition in Different Temperature Regimes

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In the present study, metastable CrMnNi steels with varying chemical compositions and a concomitantly altered stacking fault energy are processed via directed energy deposition and afterwards tested via tensile tests at different temperatures. The present study shows the influence of the manufacturing process on the elemental deformation mechanisms for

Laboratory‐Scale Procedure for Evaluating the Flux Efficiency on Melt Cleanliness and Tensile Properties of Recycled Aluminum Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A laboratory‐scale procedure is developed to evaluate the efficiency of melt‐cleaning and drossing fluxes during aluminium alloy recycling, studying their effects on melt cleanliness and tensile properties of secondary foundry alloys. This work provides a practical tool for foundries and aluminium refiners to assess the efficiency of salt fluxes in ...
