THE SPITZER SPACE TELESCOPE SURVEY OF THE ORION A AND B MOLECULAR CLOUDS. I. A CENSUS OF DUSTY YOUNG STELLAR OBJECTS AND A STUDY OF THEIR MID-INFRARED VARIABILITY [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present a survey of the Orion A and B molecular clouds undertaken with the IRAC and MIPS instruments on board Spitzer. In total, five distinct fields were mapped, covering 9 deg2 in five mid-IR bands spanning 3–24 μm.

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Multiple Shells Driven by Disk Winds: ALMA Observations in the HH 30 Outflow

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present archival Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array band 6 observations of the ^13 CO ( J = 2–1) and ^12 CO ( J = 2–1) molecular line emission of the protostellar system associated with HH 30.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Optical spectra of selected Chamaeleon I young stellar objects

open access: yes, 2003
We present optical spectra of eight candidate brown dwarfs and a previously known T Tauri star (Sz 33) of the Chamaeleon I dark cloud. We derived spectral types based on the strength of the TiO or VO absorption bands present in the spectra of these ...

The Pre-outburst Properties of the FU Ori Object HBC 722

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
FU Ori outbursts are thought to play an important role in stellar assembly and the evolution of protoplanetary disks. However, the progenitor young stellar objects are largely uncharacterized.

The Early History of Stellar Spin: the Theory of Accretion onto Young Stellar Objects

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
The interaction of the magnetospheres of forming stars with their surrounding protostellar disks results in magnetospheric accretion flow onto the star. How is the associated angular momentum of accreting material channelled? The resolution of this issue

THE EVOLUTION OF ACCRETION IN YOUNG STELLAR OBJECTS: STRONG ACCRETORS AT 3–10 Myr [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
While the rate of accretion onto T Tauri stars is predicted to decline with age, objects with strong accretion have been detected at ages of up to 10 Myr.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
