On the resistance of rare earth oxide-doped YSZ to high temperature volcanic ash attack
Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs), such as 7-8 wt.% yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ), are widely used to reduce the temperature of coated materials. However, when a turbine operates in a harsh environment, for example a volcanic ash attack, sand and ash ...

Characterizations of Synthetic 8mol% YSZ with Comparison to 3mol %YSZ for HT-SOFC
In this work, Yttria (Y2O3) was successfully doped into tetragonal 3mol% yttria stabilized Zirconia (3YSZ) by high energy-mechanical milling to synthesize 8mol% yttria stabilized Zirconia (8YSZ) used as an electrolyte for high temperature solid oxide fuel cells (HT-SOFC).

A novel organic–inorganic YSZ@PANI/SnS2 composite nanofiber film was prepared via an in‐situ construction strategy of a PANI interfacial layer. The biomimetic "branch‐leaf" structure effectively disperses and releases stress and energy, while accelerating gas diffusion/transport and providing abundant active sites.

Molten salt corrosion behavior of laser remelted PS-PVD YSZ thermal barrier coatings
Molten salt from the service environment leaches Y2O3 from yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ), threatening the security of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs). In this study, we compared the molten salt corrosion resistances of YSZ coatings prepared via plasma-

Solid oxide steam electrolysis for high temperature hydrogen production
This study has focused on solid oxide electrolyser cells for high temperature steam electrolysis. Solid oxide electrolysis is the reverse operation of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), so many of the same component materials may be used.

Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) Crystallization in Al2O3/YSZ Multilayer
Yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ)/Al2O3 multilayers deposited on Pt foil were studied by differential scanning calorimetry. Observed thermal effects were interpreted using additional evidence from x-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy ...
