Thermal shock resistance of YSZ, YSZ-Al2O3 and YSZ-Al2O3/YSZ coatings

Vacuum, 2019
Abstract Yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ), YSZ-Al2O3, and YSZ-Al2O3/YSZ coatings were fabricated by plasma spraying. Their microstructures were investigated using scanning electron microscope equipped with electron backscatter diffraction attachments. Their thermal shock resistances were measured by water quenching method.

A comparative study on hot corrosion resistance of three types of thermal barrier coatings: YSZ, YSZ+Al2O3 and YSZ/Al2O3

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2008
Abstract Hot corrosion is one of the main destructive factors in thermal barrier coatings (TBC s ) which comes as a result of molten salt effect on the coating–gas interface. Hot corrosion behavior of three types of plasma sprayed TBCs was evaluated: (a) usual YSZ (yttria-stabilized zirconia), (b) particle composite of (YSZ + Al 2 O 3 ) and (c ...

Thermal stability of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) and YSZ-Al2O3 coatings

Ceramics International, 2017
Abstract The thermal insulation performance of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) and YSZ-Al 2 O 3 coatings deposited by atmospheric plasma spraying was evaluated using a thermal shock simulator, revealing the superiority of YSZ-Al 2 O 3 coatings due to their lower thermal conductivity.

Investigation on microstructures of NiO–YSZ composite and Ni–YSZ cermet for SOFCs

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2010
Abstract NiO–YSZ composites and Ni–YSZ cermets were successfully performed for solid oxide fuel cell applications. These composites must have enough porosity and appropriate microstructure for transferring the fuel gases. In this study, ball-milling was used as a simple, cost-effective method for the purpose of mixing the raw materials.

Comparative study of the sintering behaviors between YSZ and LZ/YSZ composite

Materials Letters, 2017
Abstract Sintering behaviors of YSZ and 30LZ were studied in this paper. LZ and YSZ were found to have a good chemical compatibility that no obviously changes in the amount of LZ after sintered at 1473 K for 200 h and La-rich area keeps pyrochlore structure after sintered 1673 K for 24 h.
