Paramagnetic Faraday rotation with spin-polarized ytterbium atoms
We report observation of the paramagnetic Faraday rotation of spin-polarized ytterbium (Yb) atoms. As the atomic samples, we used an atomic beam, released atoms from a magneto-optical trap (MOT), and trapped atoms in a far-off-resonant trap (FORT). Since

Lactylation‐Driven YTHDC1 Alleviates MASLD by Suppressing PTPN22‐Mediated Dephosphorylation of NLRP3
In MASLD, YTHDC1 undergoes increased lactylation and ubiquitination, reducing its expression. AARS1 mediates lactylation at lysine 565, while disrupted binding to LDHA further promotes lactylation, suppressing YTHDC1. This downregulation enhances PTPN22 mRNA stability, leading to NLRP3 dephosphorylation and activation, which exacerbates inflammation ...

Intelligent Stain‐Free Histology on Structural Colorimetric Nanocavities
Chen and Gan et al. introduce a label‐free imaging platform using inexpensive Nanocavity‐on‐Silicon (NOS) slides. These slides transform subtle tissue variations into vivid structural colors, enabling high‐contrast histological imaging under a regular optical microscope. This stain‐free approach reveals morphological details comparable to traditional H&

HSP90α is significantly upregulated in platelets from sepsis patients, with its origin from megakaryocyte‐derived trafficking. Furthermore, activated platelets secrete HSP90α into the extracellular space in both free and exosome‐associated forms. Finally, extracellular HSP90α directly engages TLR4 on neutrophils to induce autophagy, leading to NET ...

Ytterbium calcium fluoride waveguide laser
Calcium fluoride is a well-known material for optical components. It is also suited for doping with rare-earth ions, e.g., ytterbium ones. Yb:CaF2 is an efficient gain medium for high-power and ultrashort-pulse bulk lasers around 1 μm. We report on the first Yb:CaF2 planar waveguide laser.

The diagram depicts the endothelial‐protective mechanism of magnesium lithospermate B (MLB) in sepsis‐associated lung injury. MLB binds GPX4 at Gly79, disrupts its interaction with FUNDC1, prevents mitophagy‐mediated GPX4 degradation, restores mitophagic flux, reduces ROS, and limits ferroptosis.

In the wake of the erbium-doped fiber amplifier - functional fibers and their impact
There have been a number of laser developments in recent years that are quite staggering in their simplicity, that are so powerful in their operation that engineers and scientist have to rethink the laser future.

Ytterbium doped nano-crystalline optical fiber for reduced photodarkening
We report suppression of photodarkening in Yb-doped nano-crystalline fibers in silica host. The photodarkening induced loss reduced by 20 times compared to Yb-doped aluminosilicate fibers. The laser efficiency of the nano-crystalline fiber was 79%

Alphaviral Capsid Proteins Inhibit Stress Granule Assembly via Competitive RNA Binding With G3BP1
Stress granules exert antiviral functions. This study illustrates a conserved function of alphaviral capsid proteins in modulating stress granules. Oligomerization mediated by a helical motif coupled with a positively charged intrinsically disordered region (IDR) directly competes with G3BP1 for RNA binding, thereby disrupting G3BP1‐RNA liquid–liquid ...
