Diverse Cation Exchange in Layered Titanate Nanostructures for Tailored Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
H+(H3O+)‐intercalated layered titanate enables stable intercalation of 42 single‐metal and multication combinations. Alkali‐metal intercalation tunes Rh charge density, yielding an efficient propylene hydroformylation catalyst. These results establish a generalizable intercalation platform for rational catalyst design and provide a library supporting ...

Blue cooperative emission in Yb3+ - doped GeO2 - PbO glasses

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2006
Investigation of the blue cooperative luminescence in a binary composition of GeO2-PbO glasses with different Yb3+ concentrations is reported. High refractive index (1.96) and large transmission window (0.4 up to 5.0 µm) are characteristics of this ...

Vacuum‐Evaporated, Lead‐Free RbYbI3 Perovskite Interlayers for Universal Electron Injection in High‐Performance Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The optoelectronic performance of organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) is critically governed by charge injection from electrodes into organic layers, where significant energy barriers at the interfaces often impede efficient charge injection.

Defect Formation in MIS Structures Based on Silicon with an Impurity of Ytterbium

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics
The characteristics of silicon MIS structures with ytterbium impurity are studied using non-stationary capacitance spectroscopy of deep levels. It is established that the presence of ytterbium atoms in the bulk of the silicon substrate leads to a shift ...

Intrinsically stable light source at telecom wavelengths

open access: yes, 2013
We present a highly stable light source at telecom wavelengths, based on a short erbium doped fiber. The high stability arises from the high inversion of the Er3+ion population.

Laser‐Synthesized Amorphous PdSe2‐x Nanoparticles: A Defect‐Rich Platform for High‐Efficiency SERS, Photocatalysis, and Photothermal Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Using femtosecond ablation, we show that an ordered, stoichiometric crystalline PdSe2 target can be controllably converted into a stable, disordered, non‐stoichiometric, and highly functional amorphous nanomaterial, PdSe2−x${\rm PdSe}_{2-x}$. The obtained nanoparticles offer significant advantages over conventional planar plasmon‐free substrates due to

Crystal structures of two ytterbium(III) complexes comprising alkynylamidinate ligands

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2016
Two ytterbium(III) complexes comprising alkynylamidinate ligands, namely bis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)(3-cyclopropyl-N,N′-diisopropylpropynamidinato-κ2N,N′)ytterbium(III), [Yb(C5H5)2(C12H19N2)] or Cp2Yb[(iPr2N)2C—C[triple-bond]C—c-C3H5] (1) and tris(3-phenyl ...

Modeling the electronic structures of the ground and excited states of the ytterbium atom and the ytterbium dimer: A modern quantum chemistry perspective

open access: yes, 2019
We present a comprehensive theoretical study of the electronic structures of the Yb atom and the Yb$_2$ molecule, respectively, focusing on their ground and lowest-lying electronically excited states.

Effect of Surface‐Lubricant Compatibility on Bubble Formation in Lubricant‐Infused Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Lubricant‐infused surfaces reduce drag partly through bubbles that form when lubricant depletes. Using laser‐textured steel infused with silicone oil, we show that microbubble nucleation occurs even on surfaces fully wetted by the lubricant, regardless of chemistry.

Isotopic variation of parity violation in atomic ytterbium

open access: yes, 2018
We report on measurements of atomic parity violation, made on a chain of ytterbium isotopes with mass numbers A=170, 172, 174, and 176. In the experiment, we optically excite the 6s2 1S0 -> 5d6s 3D1 transition in a region of crossed electric and magnetic
