Tetragonal BiFeO3 on yttria-stabilized zirconia [PDF]

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2015
High structural susceptibility of multiferroic BiFeO3 (BFO) makes it a potential replacement of current Pb-based piezoelectrics. In this study, a tetragonal phase is identified based on a combination of x-ray diffraction, scanning transmission electronic

Functional coatings made of eco-friendly materials [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2023
Thermal barrier coatings protect alloys (for example, in turbine blades) from extreme temperatures. There is a pressing need to find better materials than currently used yttria-stabilized zirconia (i.e.

Effect of Laser Treatment on the Surface Roughness of Multilayer Plasma Sprayed Thermal Barrier Coating System [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2021
Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are used in advanced engines working at higher temperatures. Higher efficiency and performance of gas turbine engines will require careful selection of TBCs.

Microstructural and Electrical Features of Yttrium Stabilised Zirconia with ZnO as Sintering Additive [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2016
Adding ZnO reduces sintering temperature of yttria stabilized zirconia. Adding up to 0.5 wt% of ZnO is possible to densify to 8 mol% yttria stabilized zirconia (TZ8Y) to 95% of relative density at 1300 °C, besides, the electrical conductivity increases ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of yttria-stabilized zirconia [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Physics Letters, 1995
Oxygen diffusion in the oxygen ionic conductor yttria-stabilized zirconia is investigated by means of the molecular dynamics simulation technique. Oxygen ions migrate by means of a discrete hopping process, mainly between neighbouring tetrahedral sites. Diffusion appears to occur in a short time and a long time regime.

Ultra-high heating rate effects on the sintering of ceramic nanoparticles: an in situ TEM study

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters, 2021
Heating rate plays a major role in the ceramic sintering process, especially in many new advanced sintering techniques. In this study, the effects of ultra-high heating rate up to 1200°C/s have been investigated on various ceramic nanoparticles by in ...

Transparent nanocrystalline yttria-stabilized-zirconia calvarium prosthesis [PDF]

open access: yesNanomedicine: Nanotechnology, Biology and Medicine, 2013
Laser-based diagnostics and therapeutics show promise for many neurological disorders. However, the poor transparency of cranial bone (calvaria) limits the spatial resolution and interaction depth that can be achieved, thus constraining opportunity in this regard.

Effect of ion implantation doping on electrical properties of yttria-stabilized zirconia thin films [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The change in conductivity of Fe and Ti implanted rf-sputtered layers of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) was studied as a function of the temperature (400–800°C) and oxygen partial pressure. In an oxidized state and in the temperature range of 400–600°C,
