Layered structures of cubic yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) sandwiched between two layers of platinum/YSZ composites with the platinum concentration varying between 20 and 55 vol % were prepared. Large double-layer capacitances were obtained due to the presence of large three-dimensional electrode surface areas in the composite layers. The layers were

Electro‐Sintering of Yttria‐Stabilized Cubic Zirconia
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2013Electro‐sintering, i.e., electrically enhanced densification without the assistance of Joule heating, has been observed in 70% dense 8 mol% Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 ceramics at temperatures well below those for conventional sintering. Remarkably, full density can be obtained without grain growth under a wide range of conditions, including those standard ...

Vanadia reactions with yttria stabilized zirconia
Journal of Applied Physics, 1988The reaction of vanadia films with yttria stabilized single-crystal cubic and polycrystalline cubic-tetragonal zirconias was studied using Rutherford backscattering (RBS) and x-ray diffraction, with some selected depth profiling studies. Vandium on zirconia readily oxidizes at 500 °C to form vanadia films.

Low Temperature Degradation of Yttria Stabilized Zirconia
Key Engineering Materials, 2007This paper explores the effects of dopant content on the aging behavior of tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (TZP). TZP powders with varying Y2O3 content (1.75-3mol%) were synthesized by co-precipitation. After the green body of as-prepared TZP powders being isostatically pressed at 200 MPa and sintered at 14000C for 3 h in air, a range of TZP ceramics ...

Controlling the Diameter of Electrospun Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia Nanofibers
, 2016This work reports the precise diameter control of electrospun yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) nanofibers from 200 to 900 nm after calcination. Fabricated YSZ nanofibers showed porous nanocrystalline structures with high aspect ratios of more than 500:1 ...

Heat capacity and thermodynamic functions of zirconia and yttria-stabilized zirconia
The Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 1999Abstract Heat capacities of pure zirconia ZrO 2 and 7.76 · 10 − 2 mole fraction yttria-stabilized zirconia ( ZrO 2 ) 0.9224 (Y 2 O 3 ) 7.76·10 − 2 were measured by adiabatic calorimetry at temperatures between 13 K and 300 K. The results were compared and analysed from the standpoint of the effects of yttria doping. The yttria-stabilized zirconia

Annihilation of paramagnetic centers in yttria-stabilized zirconia
Solid State Ionics, 1991Abstract We propose, starting from a simple energy level structure, a model for the kinetics of thermal annihilation of paramagnetic centers induced in yttria-stabilized zirconia. Previous experimental works show very different activation energies and frequency factors from sample to sample.

Solvothermal synthesis of zirconia and yttria-stabilized zirconia nanocrystalline particles
Journal of Materials Research, 2007A solvothermal method was used to prepare zirconia and yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) particles using zirconium hydroxide and yttrium hydroxide particles as precursors and ethanol or isopropanol as reaction media. The particle properties were characterized with x-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy ...

A Stability Study of Ni/Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia Anode for Direct Ammonia Solid Oxide Fuel Cells.
ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2015In recent years, solid oxide fuel cells fueled with ammonia have been attracting intensive attention. In this work, ammonia fuel was supplied to the Ni/yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) cermet anode at 600 and 700 °C, and the change of electrochemical ...
