Paramagnetic-defect kinetics in yttria-stabilized zirconia
Solid State Ionics, 1991Abstract The concentration and the thermal stability of paramagnetic defects induced by different treatments in ZrO 2 -12%Y 2 O 3 and ZrO 2 -24%Y 2 O 3 are analyzed by studying their EPR signals. The spectroscopic features of the EPR spectra show that the same types of centers are created in X-ray or UV-light irradiated samples and in samples ...

Raman Investigation of the Nitridation of Yttria‐Stabilized Tetragonal Zirconia
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2003Raman spectroscopy has been used to obtain Raman spectra of yttria‐stabilized tetragonal zirconia subject to surface nitridation induced by contact with zirconium nitride. Raman spectra recorded from regions at increasing distance from the source of nitridation have been used to obtain diffusion profiles from samples treated at different times and ...

Quantification of Yttria in Stabilized Zirconia by Raman Spectroscopy
, 2016The relationship between Y2O3 content in tetragonal and cubic ZrO2 phases and the shift of the Raman band at ∼645/cm was investigated. With increasing Y2O3 content, the 645/cm Raman band position decreases to lower Raman shift values.

In Vitro Aging of Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1989Yttria‐stabilized zirconia was aged in distilled water, saline, and Ringer's solution for 140, 304, and 453 d. The significant decreases in strength (13% to 22%) is attributed to the phase transformation of zirconia from tetragonal to monoclinic. The effect of aging stabilized zirconia in physiological media is still unresolved.

A Cluster Modelling Study of Conductivity of Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia
MRS Proceedings, 1992AbstractOn the basis of a previously described structural model for the Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia, the conductivity for this material can be calculated. A fixed number of clusters is generated in a structure of 70×28 polyhedra to simulate different Y contents in the structure.

Temperature dependence of the yttria-stabilized zirconia Raman spectrum
Journal of Applied Physics, 2007The Raman spectrum of 5wt% yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia from 25to1250°C is reported. All six Raman bands broaden and shift toward lower energy with increasing temperature. The shift associated with thermally induced volume changes is shown to be the main contribution for all bands, but does not explain the unexpected negative value of the ...
