Palladium-Modified Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia Membranes
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2000The reservoir method was applied to produce a continuous palladium (Pd) phase inside the porous yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) membranes. Thin porous YSZ membranes were prepared from YSZ suspension, and the pores were modified with Pd by the liquid-phase impregnation method.

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic studies on yttria, zirconia, and yttria-stabilized zirconia
Journal of Applied Physics, 1991Surfaces of yttria, zirconia, and yttria-stabilized zirconia were studied using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. An almost threefold increase in the surface yttrium concentration was observed in the yttria-stabilized zirconia samples. The core level binding energies of yttrium, zirconium, and oxygen ions in yttria-stabilized zirconia showed chemical ...

Deformation mechanisms in yttria-stabilized zirconia
Journal of Materials Science, 1988Yielding behaviour and deformation modes are characterized for single-crystal and polycrystalline yttria-stabilized ZrO2 tested in compression from 23 to 800° C. The plastic flow of single-crystal specimens is shown to be orientation and temperature dependent, and is interpreted in terms of dislocation activity, transformation plasticity, and ...

Preparation of nanocrystalline yttria-stabilized zirconia
Journal of Materials Research, 1995Nanocrystalline powder with an average crystallite size of 8–12 nm, which was produced by a combustion synthesis process, was used to prepare dense, nanocrystalline articles. Green compacts of high green density were prepared by dry pressing and densified by a fast-firing process.

Conduction mechanism in yttria stabilized zirconia
Physics Letters A, 1967Abstract Analysis of potential distribution curves in 10 Y 2 O 3 : 90 ZrO 2 at 1380°C has shown an electronic hole contribution to the conductivity to have an oxygen partial pressure dependence of p O 2 . This is postulated to arise from the reaction 1 2 O 2 ( gas ) + □ O 2 → O 2- + 2 h .

High‐temperature stability in yttria‐stabilized zirconia
Heat Transfer—Asian Research, 2008AbstractYttria‐stabilized zirconia has been studied as a candidate standard reference material for the determination of thermal properties. This study evaluated the high‐temperature stability, which is important for yttria‐stabilized zirconia to be used for a standard reference material, using a common material of fine ceramics, Referceram ZR1 ...

Layered structures of cubic yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) sandwiched between two layers of platinum/YSZ composites with the platinum concentration varying between 20 and 55 vol % were prepared. Large double-layer capacitances were obtained due to the presence of large three-dimensional electrode surface areas in the composite layers. The layers were

Uniform precipitation of Yttria-Stabilized zirconia
Refractories, 1995An experiment on precipitation of zirconia by urea, urotropin, and ammonium hydroxide precipitants is described. The morphological and phase composition of the precipitated powders are investigated. It is shown that a buffer has a positive effect on reducing the agglomeration.

EXAFS Study of Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1986The local structural environments of Y 3+ and Zr 4+ in 18 wt% Y 2 O 3 ‐stabilized zirconia were studied using extended X‐ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy over the ...

Hydrothermal Synthesis of Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia Nanocrystals with Controlled Yttria Content
Inorganic Chemistry, 2015In this study, we demonstrate for the first time the hydrothermal synthesis of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) nanocrystals with controlled yttria content (x = 3-12 mol %; xYSZ) with negligible aggregation from aqueous solution. The nanocrystals were grown via the hydrothermal treatment of basic Zr(IV) and Y(III) carbonate complex aqueous solutions in
