Assembly of Hollow Yttrium Oxide Spheres from Nano-Sized Yttrium Oxide for Advanced Passive Radiative Cooling Materials

open access: yesPolymers
This study presents significant advancements in passive radiative cooling (PRC), achieved using assembled hollow yttrium oxide spherical particles (AHYOSPs). We developed PRC films with enhanced optical properties by synthesizing micro-sized hollow Y2O3 particles and integrating them into a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) matrix. The findings revealed that

Review of NASA progress in thermal barrier coatings for stationary gas turbines [PDF]

open access: yes
Ceramic thermal barrier coatings for industrial/utility gas turbines were investigated. In burner rig tests of a zirconia yttria/nickel chromium aluminum yttrium ZrO2-12w/0Y2O3/NiCrAlY coating system on air cooled superalloy specimens, ceramic coating ...

Engineered surface strategies to manage dental implant‐related infections

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract When exposed to the oral environment, dental implants, like natural surfaces, become substrates for microbial adhesion and accumulation, often leading to implant‐related infections—one of the main causes of implant failure. These failures impose significant costs on patients, clinicians, and healthcare systems.

Microstructural changes in Beta-silicon nitride grains upon crystallizing the grain-boundary glass [PDF]

open access: yes
Crystallizing the grain boundary glass of a liquid phase sintered Si3N4 ceramic for 2 h or less at 1500 C led to formation of gamma Y2Si2O7. After 5 h at 1500 C, the gamma Y2Si2O7 had transformed to beta Y2Si2O7 with a concurrent dramatic increase in ...

Emerging locally delivered antimicrobial and immunomodulatory approaches for the prevention/treatment of peri‐implant diseases

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Peri‐implant diseases are dysbiosis‐mediated inflammatory disorders that occur in susceptible hosts. Antimicrobials and immunomodulatory agents therefore might be pertinent as adjunctive measures in the treatment of such disorders. The aim of this narrative review was to examine the existing evidence and assess the effectiveness of emerging ...

Unraveling the Enrichment Mechanisms of Rare Earth Elements in Deep‐Sea Sediments: An Environmental Magnetic Perspective

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
Abstract Deep‐sea rare earth elements and yttrium (REY)‐rich sediments have attracted considerable attention since their discovery in 2011. However, the environmental factors controlling REY enrichment remain poorly understood, largely because paleoceanographic proxies are absent in pelagic clays.

Sintered silicon carbide molded body and method for its production [PDF]

open access: yes
Sintered silicon carbide shapes are described. They are produced by using a composition containing an oxide of at least one element chosen from the group: Li, Be, Mg, Si, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Zn, Nb, Mo, Ba, Tc, Ta, W and Th as a supplement to ...

White Light Generation From YAG:Ce‐Doped Phosphate Glass‐Based Composite Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 6, 9 February 2026.
The first white‐light‐emitting composite fiber based on YAG:Ce3+ phosphors in phosphate glass is developed. The glass composition is custom‐engineered to enhance thermal stability and to match YAG:Ce3+ refractive index, ensuring composite transparency.

The effect of yttrium and thorium on the oxidation behavior of Ni-Cr-Al alloys [PDF]

open access: yes
The effect of quaternary additions of 0.5% Y, 0.5 and 1.0% Th to a base alloy of Ni-10CR-5Al on the oxidation behavior and mechanism was studied during oxidation in air over the range of 1000 to 1200 C.
