Metastability of yttrium oxides
Surface and Coatings Technology, 1993Abstract Metastable yttrium oxide films are synthesized using reactive sputter deposition. The yttrium concentration of the as-deposited film is found to vary as a function of the sputter deposition rate. In addition to the synthesis of the cubic equilibrium phase Y 2 O 3 , oxide compounds can be formed with 40–80 at. % Y.

Cerium and yttrium oxide nanoparticles are neuroprotective
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2006The responses of cells exposed to nanoparticles have been studied with regard to toxicity, but very little attention has been paid to the possibility that some types of particles can protect cells from various forms of lethal stress. It is shown here that nanoparticles composed of cerium oxide or yttrium oxide protect nerve cells from oxidative stress ...

Sputter deposition of yttrium–oxides
Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces and Films, 1993The yttrium–oxide phase diagram contains only one equilibrium compound, a Y2O3 cubic structure. The process of reactive sputter deposition is used to synthesize previously unreported, yttrium-rich oxide compounds. A planar magnetron is operated in the direct–current mode using a working gas mixture of argon–20% oxygen.

Cathodoluminescence of yttrium oxide and yttrium and zinc silicate films
Journal of Applied Spectroscopy, 2011We have studied the cathodoluminescent properties of Y2SiO5:Ce, Zn2SiO4:Ti, Zn2SiO4:Mn, Y2O3:Eu thin films obtained by high-frequency magnetron sputtering. Based on measurements of the luminescence spectra, we have shown that the films can be used as luminophores with blue emission (Y2SiO5:Ce, Zn2SiO4:Ti), green emission (Zn2SiO4:Mn), and red emission (

Nanostructured Yttrium Oxide Obtained by Hydrolysis of Yttrium Sulfate
Materials Science Forum, 2019Modern functional metal oxide materials are based upon the use of nanostructured particles. In recent years materials on the basis of yttrium oxide find ever-widening application. The properties of yttrium oxide depend heavily on precursors and synthesis conditions. One of the poorly investigated precursors is yttrium sulfate.

Preparation of Layered Yttrium Oxide by Hydrolysis of Yttrium Nitrate
Materials Science Forum, 2016Hydrolysis products of aqueous yttrium nitrates obtained by sol-gel method at room temperature, under atmospheric pressure without any templates and structure directing agents were investigated by thermal analysis combined with mass spectrometry of thermolysis products, XRD and scanning electron microscope with elemental EDS analyzer.

Abstract The air oxidation of yttrium was studied at 900 and 1400°C. Yttrium was found to have oxygen solubilities corresponding to 5.1 and 28 per cent internal oxidation of the metal at 900 and 1400°C, respectively. The rate of solution is very rapid and is the dominating process during initial stages of oxidation.

Anion exchange separation and determination of yttrium in uranium oxide — Yttrium oxide mixture
Journal of Radioanalytical Chemistry, 1983A procedure has been developed for quantitative separation of yttrium from uranium by anion exchange from nearly saturated NH4Cl solution in 0–2N HCl medium. Apparently no organic matter is leached out during the separation as yttrium could be determined by EDTA titration without resorting to fuming with perchloric acid before titration.

Kinetics of electrochemical oxidation of yttrium
Russian Journal of Electrochemistry, 2000The anodic generation of yttrium oxide is investigated. The determined kinetic parameters correspond to those of the electrochemical oxidation of metals involving the formation of dielectric layers. Kinetic features of the formation of two yttrium oxides are described.
