Carbochlorination of yttrium oxide

Thermochimica Acta, 2010
Abstract The reaction of chlorination of a mixture composed by Y 2 O 3 and sucrose carbon was studied by thermogravimetry over a temperature range of 550–950 °C. The reaction proceeds through several successive stages. The first of them is the formation of solid yttrium oxychloride (YOCl) and subsequently the YOCl is carbochlorinated to produce YCl ...

Electronic structure of yttrium oxide

Physical Review B, 1990
The electronic structure of stoichiometric Y{sub 2}O{sub 3} is studied both theoretically and experimentally. X-ray absorption, performed through total-yield measurements at the {ital K} and {ital L}{sub II} edges of yttrium atoms and the {ital K} edge of oxygen atoms, through total-yield measurements has given access to empty states of various orbital

Thin film studies of yttrium, yttrium hydrides and yttrium oxide

Journal of Physics F: Metal Physics, 1978
Electron diffraction work has been carried out on yttrium films prepared in a vacuum of 5*10-7 Torr during evaporation. The crystal structure of thin yttrium films (300 AA thick or less) is mainly face-centred-cubic with a0=5.25+or-0.05 AA which can be attributed to cubic yttrium dihydride.

Metastability of yttrium oxides

Surface and Coatings Technology, 1993
Abstract Metastable yttrium oxide films are synthesized using reactive sputter deposition. The yttrium concentration of the as-deposited film is found to vary as a function of the sputter deposition rate. In addition to the synthesis of the cubic equilibrium phase Y 2 O 3 , oxide compounds can be formed with 40–80 at. % Y.

Luminescence of yttrium oxide

Technical Physics, 2008
Pulsed cathodoluminescence of pure and neodymium-activated Y2O3 ceramic and materials used for its synthesis (commercial Y2O3 micropowder and nanopowder obtained from it by laser evaporation) is investigated in a wavelength range of 350–850 nm. In the micropowder, four series of narrow electron-vibration bands of intrinsic luminescence centers are ...

Transparent yttrium oxide ceramics

Materials Research Bulletin, 1967
Abstract Transparent discs of yttrium oxide, one centimeter in diameter by several millimeters thick, have been produced by hot forging under vacuum at 950°C and 10,000–12,000 psi for 48 hours. Lithium fluoride, required to produce full transparency, is eliminated during the sintering process.

Nanostructured Yttrium Oxide Obtained by Hydrolysis of Yttrium Sulfate

Materials Science Forum, 2019
Modern functional metal oxide materials are based upon the use of nanostructured particles. In recent years materials on the basis of yttrium oxide find ever-widening application. The properties of yttrium oxide depend heavily on precursors and synthesis conditions. One of the poorly investigated precursors is yttrium sulfate.

Anion exchange separation and determination of yttrium in uranium oxide — Yttrium oxide mixture

Journal of Radioanalytical Chemistry, 1983
A procedure has been developed for quantitative separation of yttrium from uranium by anion exchange from nearly saturated NH4Cl solution in 0–2N HCl medium. Apparently no organic matter is leached out during the separation as yttrium could be determined by EDTA titration without resorting to fuming with perchloric acid before titration.

Self-diffusion of yttrium in monocrystalline yttrium oxide: Y2O3

Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 1980
Abstract Yttrium self-diffusion in monocrystalline yttrium oxide (Y2O3) is studied by means of the classical radio tracer technique. The few reliable diffusion data obtained in the temperature range 1600–1700°C lead to the following diffusion coefficient D=3.5×10 −9 exp − 72 RT ( kcal/mole ) m 2 sec −1 ...

Hot corrosion behaviour of yttrium and aluminium modified wear resistance coating alloy in mixed sulphate at 900 °C

, 2020
The wear resistance coating alloy Tribaloy T-900 modified by aluminium and yttrium was prepared by mechanical alloying. The hot corrosion behaviour of modified and unmodified alloys was investigated at 900 °C.
