A critical review of lanthanum and lanthanum‐based materials: synthesis, applications, and challenges

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 44, Issue 8, Page 5201-5232, August 2025.
Graphical abstract AbstractDevice fabrication is increasing with the importance of functional materials for industrial applications. To fulfil increasing demands, rare earth element‐based materials have become important. In particular, lanthanum (La) and La‐based materials have garnered attention in recent years due to their versatile properties and ...

Novel Use of Bland Trans‐Arterial Embolization for Hepatoblastoma: A Case Report

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 29, Issue 5, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Hepatoblastoma is an embryonal tumor originating from hepatocyte precursors. Surgical resection is the primary treatment. Unresectable cases are treated with chemotherapy combined with liver transplantation. Patients with suboptimal chemotherapy response face limited therapeutic choices.

Endoscopic Ultrasound‐Guided Brachytherapy of Yttrium‐90 Implantation Into Pancreas: A Dose‐Escalation Pilot Study

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 3, March 2025.
Under EUS guidance, the splenic lobe was located and 90Y‐loaded carbon microspheres were implanted into the pancreas of the Bama miniature pigs. Positron emission imaging/computer tomography (PET/CT) imaging was used to check the occurrence of particle displacement and radioactivity postoperatively.

Peptide receptor chemoradionuclide therapy for neuroendocrine neoplasms: A systematic review

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 37, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract Peptide receptor chemoradionuclide therapy (PRCRT), the addition of radiosensitising chemotherapy to peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT), has been used in individual centres for neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs), but there are few data to date regarding its efficacy and safety.

Characterizing the voxel‐based approaches in radioembolization dosimetry with reDoseMC

open access: yesMedical Physics (Lancaster)
Yttrium‐90 ( 90Y$^{90}{\rm {Y}}$ ) represents the primary radioisotope used in radioembolization procedures, while holmium‐166 ( 166Ho$^{166}{\rm {Ho}}$ ) is hypothesized to serve as a viable substitute for 90Y$^{90}{\rm {Y}}$ due to its comparable ...

Role of neoadjuvant peptide receptor radionuclide therapy in unresectable and metastatic gastro‐entero‐pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms: A scoping review

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 37, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) is an established therapy for metastatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (NEN). The role of PRRT as a neoadjuvant treatment prior to surgery or other local therapies is uncertain. This scoping review aimed to define the landscape of evidence available detailing the utility of PRRT in the neo‐adjuvant ...

Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy with somatostatin analogs beyond gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 37, Issue 3, March 2025.
The thera(g)nostic approach with somatostatin analog‐based agents extends beyond gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. Understanding tumor biological mechanisms is essential for optimizing treatment strategies. Abstract First isolated by Brazeau et al. in 1972, somatostatin (SST) is a neuropeptide known for regulating various signaling pathways
