A PDE Approach to the Problems of Optimality of Expectations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analysis and Applications, 2023
Let (X, Z) be a bivariate random vector. A predictor of X based on Z is just a Borel function g(Z). The problem of "least squares prediction" of X given the observation Z is to find the global minimum point of the functional E[(X − g(Z))2] with respect ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Lateral compression splint, a guide for stabilization of mandibular arch in case of dentoalveolar fracture of children

open access: yesUpdate Dental College Journal, 2014
Children (below 13 yrs of age) are usually susceptible to cranio facial trauma because of their greater cranial mass to body ratio. When compared to adults, the pattern of fractures and frequency of associated injuries are similar but the overall ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Revealing gender-specific costs of STEM in an extended Roy model of major choice

open access: yes, 2020
We derive sharp bounds on the non consumption utility component in an extended Roy model of sector selection. We interpret this non consumption utility component as a compensating wage differential.

Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.

The pomeron in closed bosonic string theory

open access: yes, 2010
We review the features of the pomeron in the S-matrix theory and in quantum field theory. We extend those general properties to the pomeron of closed bosonic string theory in a Minkowskian background. We compute the couplings of the pomeron to the lowest

Z lepton flavour violation as a probe for new physics at future $$e^+e^-$$ e + e - colliders

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2021
In this work we assess the potential of discovering new physics by searching for lepton-flavour-violating (LFV) decays of the Z boson, $$Z\rightarrow \ell _i \ell _j$$ Z → ℓ i ℓ j , at the proposed circular $$e^+e^-$$ e + e - colliders CEPC and FCC-ee ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
