ABSTRACT Enhancing female longevity through regular calvings improves herd replacement rates and reduces the costs associated with replacing low reproductive efficiency animals. Stayability (STAY), defined as a cow's ability to remain productive in the herd, is a categorical trait that challenges traditional genetic evaluation due to its non‐normal ...

Genomic Variants Associated With Oocyte and Embryo Production in Dairy Gir Cattle
ABSTRACT The use of in vitro fertilization protocols associated with genomic selection increases genetic gain in dairy cattle. The aims of this study were to uncover genetic variants in a specific interval on BTA7 and to investigate their effects on the number of oocytes and embryos in dairy Gir.

FACTORS AFFECTING HEAT TOLERANCE IN CROSSBRED CATTLE IN CENTRAL BRAZIL
This study compared the adaptation traits in common crosses of crossbred dairy cattle in central Brazil. Twenty animals of each of three genetic groups were used: zebu (Bos indicus), Simmental x Zebu (SZ) and Holstein x Zebu (HZ).

ABSTRACT Scrotal circumference (SC) is a key reproductive indicator in beef cattle and an important predictor of male puberty and correlated female fertility. In this study, we evaluated young Nellore bulls raised under combinations of pasture and feedlot environments and modeled SC using a “double” reaction norm model. Additive genetic variance for SC

Wolf Presence Disrupts Seasonal Variation in Hair Cortisol Among Free‐Ranging Beef Cattle
Predators exert indirect effects on prey populations beyond direct predation, but how predator reintroduction restructures prey physiology remains poorly understood. Using hair cortisol analysis in cattle exposed versus unexposed to wolves, we found that wolf presence disrupted normal seasonal cortisol regulation patterns.
