Optimization of Z-scan technique inside a 4f system
Nonlinear Optics, 2011Signal optimization is performed using Z-scan or EZ-scan techniques inside a 4-f system. Third-order nonlinear optical measurements are based on simple expressions obtained by simulation using Helmholtz wave equation through the imaging system.

Managing thermal effects in eclipse Z-scan technique
2007 European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and the International Quantum Electronics Conference, 2007In this paper, we introduce a new combination of the eclipse Z-scan with the recently introduced thermally managed Z-scan, that gains in sensitivity associated with the simultaneous measurement of the thermal and nonthermal contributions to the nonlinear (NL) refractive properties of photonic materials using relatively low laser intensities.

Theoretical-experimental method of nonlinear optics: the Z-scan technique
South Florida Journal of Development, 2023We did this work to help professors and students of physics and engineering in Optics and Lasers courses who require a theoretical-experimental introductory framework to nonlinear optics. We showed in this article the basic principles of the theory, focusing on third-order nonlinear optical phenomena, using the well-known Z-scan technique for its ...

Z -scan technique through beam radius measurements
Applied Physics B: Lasers and Optics, 2003A modification to the well-known z-scan technique for measuring optical non-linearities is introduced. It is based on directly measuring the beam radius in the far field instead of the transmittance of the irradiance through an aperture, as in the original version.

Z-scan technique as a tool for the measurement of blood glucose
Laser Physics, 2008The measurement of the blood glucose level utilizing the optical nonlinearity observed by a single-optical beam Z-scan technique is proposed. The glucose level is calculated by measuring the nonlinear refractive index (n2) of the sample. The results are compared with the measurement made by the conventional colorimetric method and are found to be in ...

Optical nonlinearities of InN by reflection Z-scan technique
SPIE Proceedings, 2014The optical nonlinearities of semiconductor bulk material Indium nitride (InN) have been investigated by Reflection Z-scan technique (RZ-scan) at the wavelength of 532nm with 21ps laser pulse. Top hat beam is used in order to get high spatial quality. Different from the normal RZ-scan device, instead of moving the sample, the lens before the sample is ...

Application of the Z-scan technique to a saturable photorefractive medium
Conference Digest. 2000 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe (Cat. No.00TH8505), 2002Summary form only given. The Z-scan technique is an extensively utilized experimental technique for studying optical nonlinearities in a wide class of photorefractive media. In this work we derive formulas for the generalized three-level scheme, describing the refractive index change under the absorption saturation, and exploit these for modifying the ...

Optical nonlinearity of Bi2O3 nanoparticles studied by Z-scan technique
Journal of Applied Physics, 1997The third-order optical nonlinear susceptibilities of Bi2O3 nanoparticles coated by a layer of stearic acid in toluene sol and bare in hydrosol were measured by the Z-scan technique. The nonlinear susceptibility of the coated Bi2O3 nanoparticles was found to be two orders of magnitude greater than that of the bulk Bi2O3.

Diffractive optical element for improving the Z-scan technique sensitivity
SPIE Proceedings, 2008One of the most successful experimental technique for determining nonlinear properties of optical materials is the Z-scan technique. Interaction between a high intensity beam with a Kerr medium gives rise to a lensing effect that implies focusing or defocusing of the beam which is transformed into transmittance variations of a diaphragm set in the ...

Optical nonlinearities of Fe2O3 nanoparticles investigated by Z-scan technique
Optical Materials, 1997Abstract The single beam Z-scan technique has been used to measure the third-order nonlinear refractive index, γ, the two-photon absorption coefficient, s, and the variation of refractive index per unit photoexcited carrier density σ r , and the free carrier absorption cross section σ ab for quantum-confined Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles coated by a ...
