White-light continuum Z-scan technique for nonlinear materials characterization

open access: yesOptics Express, 2004
We present a technique for rapid characterization of degenerate nonlinear absorption and refraction spectra using a femtosecond white-light continuum (WLC) pulse to perform Z-scans. The spectral components of the WLC source are temporally and spatially dispersed to minimize nondegenerate two-photon absorption (2PA) processes.

Heterogeneity in the Global Practice of Central Nervous System Staging in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) involvement in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is assessed by cell counting and cytomorphology from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and is used for treatment stratification worldwide. The ratio of “CNS2” patients in clinical trials ranges from 3% to 40%, with unclear prognostic significance ...

Study of non-linear optical properties in automobile lubricating oil via Z-Scan technique

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería Universidad de Antioquia, 2018
Non-linear optical properties were obtained as a function of laser power for the 20W-50 multigrade oil for engines. These properties were obtained by using the Z-scan technique for transmission in closed and open cell configurations.

Influence of the photoinduced focal length of a thin nonlinear material in the Z-scan technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper the response purely refractive of a thin nonlinear material, in the z-scan technique experiment, is modeled as a lens with a focal length that is a function of some integer power of the incident beam radius.

Using Image Analysis to Determine Ideal Aperture Conditions for Optimal Z-Scan Signal Quality

open access: yes, 2018
An image analysis technique that is insensitive to power fluctuations and beam steering issues, and can be used with non TEM00 Gaussian beams, is introduced to determine the nonlinear properties of materials using the well-known Z-scan experimental ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Study of Nonlinear Refraction and Nonlinear Absorption Coefficients of Different CdS Film Thickness by diode laser

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم, 2013
In the present work, different thicknesses of CdS film were prepared by chemical bath deposition. Z-Scan technique was used to study the nonlinear refractive index and nonlinear absorption coefficients.
