Quasar Luminosity Function at z = 7

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
We present the quasar luminosity function (LF) at z = 7, measured with 35 spectroscopically confirmed quasars at 6.55 < z < 7.15. The sample of 22 quasars from the Subaru High- z Exploration of Low-Luminosity Quasars (SHELLQs) project, combined with 13 ...

On the function Z(t) associated with the Riemann zeta-function

open access: bronzeJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1986
Let, as usual, \(Z(t)=e^{i\theta (t)}\zeta (1/2+it)\), where \(\theta (t)=\arg \pi^{-(1/4+it/2)} \Gamma (1/4+it/2).\) It is well known that on the Riemann hypothesis the zeros of \(Z(t)\) and those of \(Z'(t)\) are interlacing. In this paper a similar result is proved for \(Z'(t)\): if the Riemann hypothesis is true then there is a \(t_ 0>0\) such that

Functions of the uvula and Z‐pharyngoplasty [PDF]

open access: bronzePsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, 2000
AbstractUPPP includes uvulotomy. The uvula works as the pilot for eating and swallowing. We performed an operation which left the uvula intact and opened the pharynx by Z‐opening the palate, Z‐pharyngoplasty (ZPP). Twenty‐four patients were studied before and after ZPP. The results of the operations were satisfactory. No patients complained of symptoms

Functions f: Z /pn Z ?Z /pn Z induced by polynomials of Z[X] [PDF]

open access: bronzeAnnali di Matematica Pura ed Applicata, 2002
We consider the kernel of the natural map ϕ n : Z[X]?{f: Z /pn Z ?Z /pn Z }. We give a first description of it as an ideal and a second one as a Z-module.

Evolution of the galaxy luminosity function at z < 0.3 [PDF]

open access: bronzeMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2004
We measure the redshift-dependent luminosity function and the comoving radial density of galaxies in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 1 (SDSS DR1). Both measurements indicate that the apparent number density of bright galaxies increases by a factor ~3 as redshift increases from z=0 to z=0.3.

The association between muscle strength and z scores of pulmonary function [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
Z scores and percent predicted values of spirometry parameters are widely used for the evaluation of pulmonary function and detection of respiratory diseases.

Momentum Ranking Function of Z-Numbers and its Application to Game Theory

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم, 2023
After Zadeh introduced the concept of z-number scientists in various fields have shown keen interest in applying this concept in various applications. In applications of z-numbers, to compare two z-numbers, a ranking procedure is essential.  While a few

A note on the zeros of the derivatives of Hardy's function Z(t)$Z(t)$

open access: yesMathematika, 2023
AbstractUsing the twisted fourth moment of the Riemann zeta‐function, we study large gaps between consecutive zeros of the derivatives of Hardy's function , improving upon previous results of Conrey and Ghosh (J. Lond. Math. Soc. 32 (1985) 193–202), and of the second named author (Acta Arith. 111 (2004) 125–140). We also exhibit small distances between

ℤ-polyregular functions

open access: yes2023 38th Annual ACM/IEEE Symposium on Logic in Computer Science (LICS), 2023
This paper introduces a robust class of functions from finite words to integers that we call Z-polyregular functions. We show that it admits natural characterizations in terms of logics, Z-rational expressions, Z-rational series and transducers. We then study two subclass membership problems. First, we show that the asymptotic growth rate of a function
