Constraint on foreland basin migration in the Zagros mountain belt using Sr isotope stratigraphy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We have constrained the time-space migration of the Zagros foredeep basin by performing Sr isotope stratigraphy on 31 samples of marine macrofossils from Neogene sediments now exposed in the Zagros mountain belt in southwest Iran.

Trace Elements Geochemistry in the Zagros Phosphorite Horizon: New Approach on Deposition and Genesis

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2021
Introduction Phosphorites are marine sediments of biogenic origin containing 15–20 wt% P2O5 and between 50 and 120 ppm U (Boggs, 2009; Tzifas et al., 2014; Zarasvandi et al., 2019).

Mesozoic-Cenozoic mafic magmatism in Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Zagros Orogen (Western Iran): geochemical and isotopic inferences from Middle Jurassic and Late Eocene gabbros [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
One of the consequences of Neo-Tethys ocean subduction beneath the Central Iranian Micro-continent (CIMC) is the development of rare gabbroic intrusions in the Malayer-Boroujerd Plutonic Complex (MBPC) located in the Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone (SaSZ) of the ...

Microfacies, depositional environment and carbonate association of the Asmari Formation in Tang-e-Gojestan [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology Researches
The Asmari Formation was logged and sampled in the Tang-e-Gojestan stratigraphic section (Eshgar Anticline, Izeh Zone) to study microfacies, depositional environment and carbonate associations. The Asmari Formation with 298 m-thickness mainly consists of

Shallow burial dolomitization of an Eocene carbonate platform, southeast Zagros Basin, Iran [PDF]

open access: yesGeoArabia, 2014
ABSTRACTHere, a case example of a dolomitized Eocene ramp setting from the southeastern Zagros Basin is documented and discussed in the context of published work. This is of significance as well-documented case examples of Eocene dolomitized inner platforms are comparably rare.

Reconstruction of Quaternary ELA of the Zagros Geomorphic Unit of Iran [PDF]

open access: yesجغرافیا و پایداری محیط, 2018
Although the quaternary period is a very short period among the periods of geology, it is important for geomorphologists. The main objectives of this article are to provide the best method to estimate the ELA, analyze the effect of the change of latitude
