Monosaccharide composition of the mucilages in Encephalartos Lehm. (Zamiaceae)

Giornale botanico italiano, 1981
Abstract Arabinose, fucose, galactose, mannose, methylrhamnose and rhamnose were identified in the hydrolysed mucilages of 14 Encephalartos species. The monosaccharides occur in quantities varying between 44% (w/w) in E. hildebrandtii and 89% (w/w) in E. tegulaneus. Galactose, arabinose and rhamnose are the most abundant monosaccharides.
