Song Lateralization in the Zebra Finch
Hormones and Behavior, 1997The neural mechanisms for bird song commonly are lateralized, depending greatly on the integrity of the left song system and responding much less to manipulations of the system on the right. These results suggest that it is advantageous for the mechanisms controlling song to be lateralized and in this direction.

Experientia, 1963O2-Verbrauch und Gesamt-Wasserverdunstung wurden bei australischen Zebrafinken gemessen. Bei geringem Warmeaustausch zwischen Korper und Umgebung durch Strahlung, Konvektion und Ableitung konnen diese Wustenvogel den fur die Warmebilanz erforderlichen Warmeabfluss einzig durch Verdunstung auf dem normalen Niveau halten.

Tertiary sex ratios of Zebra Finches Poephila guttata are weakly but consistently male-biased (52.1%) over a broad geographic range. The cause of this bias does not appear to be differential mortality of adults, because adult males and females remain resident at study sites for equal lengths of time.
