Zernike by one Pascal triangle: A high performance, low memory cost and flexible computation scheme for Zernike polynomials

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications
This work uncovers two hidden cases of block-wise recurrence in Zernike computations. Based on these findings, a new computation scheme for Zernike polynomials is proposed.

Imaging of Biphoton States: Fundamentals and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 40, 18 May 2026.
Quantum states of two photons exhibit a rich polarization and spatial structure, which provides a fundamental resource of strongly correlated and entangled states. This review analyzes the physics of these intriguing properties and explores the various techniques and technologies available to measure them, including the state of the art of their ...

An Automatic Optimized Method for a Digital Optical Phase Conjugation System in Focusing through Scattering Media

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In this paper, a reliable automatic optimized method for a digital optical phase conjugation (DOPC) system based on a multipopulation genetic algorithm (MPGA) is proposed for improving the compensation quality of DOPC.

Informative feature selection based on the Zernike polynomial coefficients for various pathologies of the human eye cornea [PDF]

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика, 2018
The study was devoted to the analysis of wavefront aberrations under changes of the cornea surface curvature in the human eye. The analysis was based on the representation of aberrations of the front and rear corneal surfaces as superposition of Zernike ...

Balanced Binary Tree Schemes for Computing Zernike Radial Polynomials

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Zernike radial polynomials (ZRP) play a significant role in application areas such as optics design, imaging systems, and image processing systems. Currently, there are two kinds of numerical schemes for computing the ZRP automatically with computer ...

A review of angle kappa and multifocal intraocular lenses and their effect on visual outcomes

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 2, Page e122-e138, March 2026.
Abstract Although most patients are satisfied with their vision after multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, dissatisfaction has been reported for various reasons, including poor visual outcomes and visual disturbances. Many published reports hypothesise that preoperative angle kappa may be an associated factor in patient dissatisfaction ...

Galaxy clusters morphology with Zernike polynomials: The first application on Planck Compton parameter maps [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
The study of the morphology of 2D projected maps of galaxy clusters is a suitable approach to infer, from real data, the dynamical state of those systems.

An alternative method for phase-unwrapping of interferometric data [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2014
In this paper we present a novel algorithm for phase unwrapping where only a subset of data from the wrapped phase map is used to reconstruct the unwrapped phase map as a linear combination of radial basis functions (RBF’s).

Optimization of Spot Efficiency of Double-Helix Point Spread Function and Its Application in Intracellular Imaging

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The nano-scale spatial positioning of nanoparticles in tumor cells can be achieved through the double-helix point spread functions (DH-PSF). Nevertheless, certain issues such as low light intensity concentration of the main lobes, the influence of the ...
