Net-zero energy building schools

Renewable Energy, 2013
In the Netherlands with respect to sustainable educational building the main focus has been on energy saving. Recently some schools were built as rather environmental friendly schools with more attention to comfort and health aspects. The first NZEB designed school is analyzed and the results compared with other more traditional schools.

Towards zero energy buildings

2011
Key features of the Finnish energy policy are improved energy efficiency and increased use of renewable energy sources. To achieve a sustainable shift in the energy system, a target set by the authorities, both energy savings and increased use of low-pollution energy sources are therefore priority areas.

Towards nearly zero-energy buildings

2023

Zero energy buildings review

2015
The concept about ZEB (Zero Energy Buildings) has gained wide international attention due to the expected crucial role that could play in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The concepts ZEB, NZEB (Net Zero Energy Building) and nZEB (nearly Zero Energy Building) are found in the scientific literature.

Zero-energy buildings: the challenges

Advances in Building Energy Research, 2013
In the EU a Directive was adopted according to which after 31 December 2020 the construction of buildings that do not meet the requirement of being ‘nearly zero (fossil) energy’ will not be allowed. Today, only a few zero-energy buildings (ZEBs) exist, and they show that their design, construction and operation a dramatic challenge for many reasons ...

Towards Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB)

2011
In 2009, European Union (EU) member states forged a long-awaited compromise on the recast buildings directive, agreeing that all new buildings would have to comply with high energy-performance standards by the end of 2020. The recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, which was finally announced in May 2010, requires the public sector to take ...

Optimal Design of Net Zero Energy Buildings

Linköping Electronic Conference Proceedings, 2011
The new recast of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) calls for all new buildings to be nearly zero energy buildings by the end of 2020. Besides, there are many evolving new definitions of Net Zero Energy Building (NZEB) that need to be fulfilled. To achieve the above mentioned targets is quite challenging.

Zero Energy Buildings o Zero Emission Buildings?

2019
