Application of the zero-sequence voltage component to detect stator winding inter-turn faults in PMSMs

open access: yesElectric Power Systems Research, 2012
This paper develops and analyzes a methodology for detecting stator winding inter-turn faults in surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors. The proposed methodology is based on monitoring the zero-sequence voltage component having into account the effects of the inverter that usually feeds the machine.

Detection of Demagnetization Faults in Surface-Mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors by Means of the Zero-Sequence Voltage Component

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2012
This paper develops and analyzes an online methodology to detect demagnetization faults in surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors. The proposed methodology, which takes into account the effect of the inverter that feeds the machine, is based on monitoring the zero-sequence voltage component of the stator phase voltages.

A New PWM Control based on an Optimized Zero Sequence Component injection: Application in a Two-Level Inverter [PDF]

open access: yesIECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2021
In this paper, a new optimization problem is proposed for improvement of PWM control of an inverter that supplies a generic RLE load. Two objectives functions are studied separately: Weighted Total Harmonic Distortion (WTHD) of load voltages and total losses.

Research on Fault-Tolerant Operation Strategy of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with Common DC Bus Open Winding Phase-Breaking Fault

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In some key areas, fault-tolerant control is usually needed in order to enable the motor to operate continuously in fault mode. Given that it is difficult to detect the zero-sequence current of the open winding permanent magnet synchronous motor after ...

Underground power supply system grounding fault section positioning method based on wide-area current transient component

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2022
At present, most of the research on underground power supply system grounding fault positioning in coal mine adopts the transient method, which needs to collect zero sequence voltage and zero sequence current of the line at the same time.

Characteristic Quantity Analysis of Single-Phase Contact Tree Ground Fault of Distribution Network Overhead Lines

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
When the overhead line passes through the forest area, the conductor may contact the line to induce the tree-contact single-phase-to-ground fault (TSF), and the persistence of TSF may induce wildfires, bringing serious consequences.

Analysis on Circulating Current and Split Capacitor Voltage Balance for Modular Multilevel Converter Based Three-phase Four-wire Split Capacitor DSTATCOM

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2021
We propose a modular multilevel converter (MMC) based three-phase four-wire (3P4W) split capacitor distribution static synchronous compensator (DSTATCOM), aiming at compensating unbalanced and reactive load currents.
