Arsenic sorption on zero-valent iron-biochar complexes

open access: yesWater Research, 2018
Arsenic (As) is toxic to human and is often found in drinking water in India and Bangladesh, due to the natural abundance of arsenides ores. Different removal procedures such as precipitation, sorption, ion exchange and membrane separation have been employed for removal of As from contaminated drinking water (CDW), however, there is a critical need for

Nanoscale zero-valent iron in mesoporous carbon (nZVI@C): stable nanoparticles for metal extraction and catalysis

open access: yes, 2017
Extraction of precious metals from low-level sources such as wastewater is of significance for water/wastewater treatment and resource recovery. Herein, we report a composite of nanoscale zero-valent iron in ordered mesoporous carbon (nZVI@C) for rapid ...

Cu‐Doped Amorphous High‐Entropy Hydroxides Activating Electrochemical Reconstruction: Triggering LOM and Chloride Repellency for Enhanced Water and Seawater Oxidation

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Copper‐doped amorphous high‐entropy hydroxide (CuNiCoFeCrOH) is constructed via one‐step electrodeposition. Cu doping promotes electrochemical reconstruction by accelerating Cr leaching and re‐adsorption, triggering LOM and chloride repellency for efficient water and seawater oxidation.

Kinetics of Reductive Dechlorination of DDT in Soil with Zero-Valent Iron

open access: yes, 2011
In this study, reductive dechlorination of DDT compounds by zero-valent iron in Jiangxi red soil was investigated. DDT compounds were effectively dechlorinated by zero-valent iron.

Enhanced Electron‐Capturing by Single‐Atomic Iron on Pyridinic N‐Deficient Carbon Drives Self‐Oxidative Degradation of Pollutants

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Pyrolysis of FeOx/g‐C3N4 and ZIF‐8 is performed to introduce Fe single atom and pyridinic nitrogen vacancies onto N‐doped carbon. This modification enables the materials to efficiently extract electrons from ciprofloxacin (CIP) and activate dissolved oxygen. 100% of CIP was degraded within 1 min without adding any oxidant.
