Zero Current Synchronization of Opening Switch Contacts

IEEE Transactions on Components, Hybrids, and Manufacturing Technology, 1986
Thermostatic controls switching ac loads at 220 V, 50 Hz consist of a slowly moving thermally activated prime mover operating randomly on a small snap-action switch. An experimental study on the opening characteristic of the snap-action switch has shown that the point on the current wave at which contact separation occurs becomes nonrandom on its ...

Zero current switching Type Class DE rectifier

IECON 2012 - 38th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2012
This paper introduces a zero current switching (ZCS) type Class DE rectifier, along with design procedure, simulation and experimental results. The feature of ZCS type Class DE rectifier is that the diodes maintain ZCS and zero current derivative switching (ZCDS), therefore, switching losses and switching noise are reduced.

A Novel Zero-Voltage and Zero-Current-Switching Full-Bridge PWM Converter

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2004
A novel zero-voltage and zero-current-switching (ZVZCS) full-bridge pulse-width modulation converter is proposed. The ZCS condition of the lagging-leg is obtained by a simple secondary auxiliary circuit resetting the primary current during the freewheeling stage. The auxiliary circuit's capacitor is charged by the center tape of the secondary through a

A new zero-current-switching constant switching frequency boost converter

1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002
The authors present a new boost topology which can be operated in constant switching frequency and zero-current-switching. In addition, the voltage stresses on the active switches are as low as the traditional boost pulse width modulated (PWM) converter. The control curves are derived through the normalized state-plane trajectory.

A New High-Efficiency Zero-Voltage, Zero-Current Switching Topology

2006 IEEE International Vacuum Electronics Conference held Jointly with 2006 IEEE International Vacuum Electron Sources, 2006
This paper presents a novel high efficiency topology that is capable of operating with lossless switching though a very wide load range. The topology exhibits practical efficiencies exceeding 97% for a 250W, 50V output, and presents an optimised, smooth switching waveform, which is ideal for a typical spacecraft Electronic Power Conditioner.

A zero-current-switching multilevel switched capacitor DC-DC converter

2011 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2011
This paper introduces a zero-current-switching multilevel switched capacitor dc-dc converter for use in high voltage gain and high temperature applications. This circuit has a reduced charge path, low switch count and low device ratings compared to many similar topologies. Furthermore, switching losses and component size are greatly reduced.

Zero-voltage and zero-current-switching half bridge DC/DC converter

Conference Record of the 2002 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. 37th IAS Annual Meeting (Cat. No.02CH37344), 2003
This paper introduces an improved zero-voltage and zero-current-switching half bridge (ZV-ZCS HB) DC/DC converter for medium and high-power applications. The soft switching is obtained by adding only small capacitors. The operation principle and design procedure are presented together with an analysis of the total losses in the switch.

Novel zero-current-switching (ZCS) PWM converters

IECON'03. 29th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37468), 2004
A new family of zero-current-switching (ZCS) pulsewidth-modulated (PWM) converters which uses a new ZCS PWM switch cell is presented in this paper. The main switch and auxiliary switch operate at zero-current-switching turn on and turn off, and the all passive semiconductor devices in the ZCS-PWM converter operate at zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) turn ...
