Three-phase sinusoidal current rectifier with zero-current switching

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1995
This paper presents the application of zero-current switching in a three-phase rectification scheme with nearly sinusoidal line currents. The principle of third harmonic current circulation is used to reduce the distortion in the line currents. Zero-current switching is accomplished with the use of only two switches.

Zero Current Synchronization of Opening Switch Contacts

IEEE Transactions on Components, Hybrids, and Manufacturing Technology, 1986
Thermostatic controls switching ac loads at 220 V, 50 Hz consist of a slowly moving thermally activated prime mover operating randomly on a small snap-action switch. An experimental study on the opening characteristic of the snap-action switch has shown that the point on the current wave at which contact separation occurs becomes nonrandom on its ...

Zero-current-switching multilevel modular switched-capacitor dc-dc converter

2009 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2009
This paper presents a quasi-resonant technique for multilevel modular switched-capacitor circuit (MMSCC) to achieve zero-current-switching (ZCS) without increasing cost and sacrificing reliability. This zero-current-switching multilevel modular switched-capacitor circuit (ZCS-MMSCC) employs the stray inductance existing in the circuit as the resonant ...

A study of IGBT turn-off behavior and switching losses for zero-voltage and zero-current switching

[Proceedings] APEC '92 Seventh Annual Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2003
The switching losses of insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) with zero voltage and zero current switching are compared with the switching losses of IGBTs with hard switching. The turn-off behavior of the IGBT is studied in detail for both zero voltage and zero current switching. The effect of a reverse current during turn-off is also investigated

A zero-voltage zero-current soft switching DC/DC converter

Frontiers of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in China, 2006
A novel three-level zero-voltage zero-current switching (ZVZCS) DC/DC converter is proposed in this paper. A tapped-inductor is used to replace the normal output filter inductor, so that the circulating current in the zero-state can be reset to zero. The reset voltage and the reset time can be set conveniently just by simply changing the winding ratio ...

Modeling and Control of a Zero-Current-Switching DC/AC Current-Source Inverter

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2007
Choosing a dc/ac converter is mainly a compromise among three major issues, namely: 1) efficiency; 2) waveform quality; and 3) cost. This paper considers a zero-current-switching (ZCS) current-source inverter (CSI) as a viable choice for many applications.

Zero-Current Switching Impedance-Source DC-DC Converter

IECON 2019 - 45th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2019
This paper presents a novel soft-switching technique for the galvanically isolated impedance-source full-bridge DC-DC converters. It allows reducing the turn off losses of the inverter switches, which otherwise represent a significant portion of the total power loss in such converters.

Analysis and implementation of a new zero current switching flyback inverter

International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, 2018
Summary In this paper, a novel zero current switching (ZCS) flyback inverter in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) is proposed. In the proposed flyback inverter, the ZCS for the primary switch is achieved by adding a simple auxiliary circuit to the conventional flyback inverter.
