Novel zero-current-switching (ZCS) PWM switch cell minimizing additional conduction loss

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2002
This paper proposes a new zero-current-switching (ZCS) pulsewidth modulation (PWM) switch cell that has no additional conduction loss of the main switch. In this cell, the main switch and the auxiliary switch turn on and turn off under zero-current condition. The diodes commutate softly and the reverse-recovery problems are alleviated.

Novel zero-current-switching (ZCS) PWM converters

IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 2005
A new family of zero-current-switching (ZCS) pulse-width-modulated (PWM) converters which uses a new ZCS PWM switch cell is presented in this paper. The main switch and auxiliary switch operate at zero-current-switching turn on and turn off, and the all passive semiconductor devices in the ZCS-PWM converter operate at zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) turn ...

Power factor pre-regulator (PFP) with an improved zero-current-switching (ZCS) PWM switch cell

Proceedings of the Power Conversion Conference-Osaka 2002 (Cat. No.02TH8579), 2003
This paper proposes a new boost power factor preregulator (PFP) featuring zero-current-switching (ZCS). By employing an improved ZCS PWM switch cell, ZCS of all the active switches is achieved without additional current stress of the main switch. The additional conduction loss is reduced, since the circulating current for the soft switching flows only ...

A new family of zero-current-switching PWM converters and a novel HPF-ZCS-PWM boost rectifier

APEC '99. Fourteenth Annual Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition. 1999 Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.99CH36285), 1999
This work presents a new family of DC to DC converters based on a new zero-current-switching (ZCS) pulse-width-modulated (PWM) soft-commutation cell. Two transistors (main and auxiliary switches), two diodes, two small resonant inductors and one resonant capacitor compose this commutation cell, appropriated to operate with insulated-gate bipolar ...

Analysis and design of a flyback zero-current switched (ZCS) quasi-resonant (QR) AC/DC converter

PESC Record. 27th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2002
The flyback zero-current switched quasi-resonant AC/DC converter, functioning as a power factor correction regulator, is presented and analyzed in detail in this paper. Only one active switch with simple control logic is required to achieve both input current waveshaping and output voltage regulation.
