Controllability and heterogeneity of river networks using spectral graph theory approach

open access: yesScientific Reports
River networks are important landscape features that have been extensively studied over many years. While seminal works have focused on characterizing the topological properties of river networks, the quantification of their spectral properties has ...

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Zeroing Unknown Terms: A Novel Clustering Architecture for Low Network Overhead in Distributed Massive MIMO

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society
We propose a novel user-centric clustering architecture for distributed massive multiple-input-multiple-output networks. We examine the uplink of a general multi-cell scenario in which a cluster of base stations (BSs) with large antenna arrays detect the

Zero forcing sets and minimum rank of graphs

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 2008
The minimum rank of a simple graph G is defined to be the smallest possible rank over all symmetric realmatrices whose ijth entry (for i /= j ) is nonzero whenever {i, j } is an edge in G and is zero otherwise. Thispaper introduces a new graph parameter, Z(G), that is the minimum size of a zero forcing set of verticesand uses it to bound the minimum ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Observationally constrained global warming hysteresis under CO2 removal

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Stabilizing global warming under ongoing anthropogenic warming will likely require atmospheric carbon dioxide removal. However, the extent to which carbon dioxide removal can reverse past warming remains uncertain due to divergent responses across a ...

Modular Critical Element Recycling Platform Using a Nanoporous Additively Manufactured Gyroid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A modular recycling platform integrates 3D‐printed nanoporous gyroid structures to enable efficient critical element recovery. This system utilizes a hierarchical architecture, combining macroscopic channels with polymerization‐induced nanoscale porosity. By systematically tuning structural wall thickness and resin formulation, the platform achieves an

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.
