A primary-switched line-side converter using zero voltage switching

Conference Record of the 2000 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. Thirty-Fifth IAS Annual Meeting and World Conference on Industrial Applications of Electrical Energy (Cat. No.00CH37129), 2001
A new primary-switched AC/DC power converter and its modulation are presented. It employs a single- or three-phase transformer, with a matrix converter (primary) and a conventional two-level converter (secondary). This allows galvanic isolation at medium-frequency zero-voltage primary commutation and five line-side voltage levels.

KY converter with zero voltage switching

2010 5th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications, 2010
In this paper, the soft switching technique is applied to the KY converter to upgrade the efficiency in the neighborhood of the rated load and hence enhance its capability in industrial applications. The details of soft switching of the KY converter are illustrated along with some simulated and experimental results to verify the effectiveness of the ...

Asymmetric Topology Design and Quasi-Zero-Loss Switching Composite Modulation for IGCT-Based High-Capacity DC Transformer

IEEE transactions on power electronics, 2023
Medium-voltage large-capacity dc transformer (DCT) is the key energy conversion link for building intelligent distribution grid. Increasing the voltage and capacity of single module in DCT can effectively improve the power density and reduce the system ...

Zero-voltage switching in switched current circuits

Proceedings of IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems - ISCAS '94, 2002
Traditionally the accuracy of switched-current circuits has been much lower than that of switched-capacitor circuits. To address this problem, an accurate high-speed switched-current sample-and-hold technique based on zero-voltage switching is presented.

Zero-voltage-switched interleaved flyback converter

INTELEC 2009 - 31st International Telecommunications Energy Conference, 2009
This paper proposes an interleaved flyback converter which is remarked with zero-voltage-switched active switches and reduced reverse recovery loss on the rectifying diodes. The configuration is composed of two identical flyback converters and an auxiliary inductor shunted between the diodes.

Zero-voltage and zero-current soft-switching PWM inverter

2005 European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, 2005
This paper presents a zero-voltage and zero-current soft-switching (ZVZCS) PWM three phase inverter with a single auxiliary resonant commutation cell. All of the main switches in the three-phase inverter side can be turned on and turned off under zero-voltage and zero-current condition. The operating principle of proposed commutation cell is described,

Charge control for zero-voltage-switching multiresonant converter

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1996
The operation of zero-voltage-switching multi-resonant power converters (ZVSMRCs) limits the use of peak current-mode control. The charge control technique is found applicable to ZVSMRCs for improving dynamic performance. Charge control compares the total charge of the switch current to the control voltage to modulate the switching frequency. Since the

Single-switch DC-DC converter with zero-voltage-switching and clamped voltage

Proceedings of IEEE Power Electronics Specialist Conference - PESC '93, 2002
Single-switch DC-DC power converters with zero-voltage-switching and clamped voltage (ZVS-CV) are presented. To construct such converters, a switch cell, which consists of the basic PWM (pulse-width modulation) switch cell and an additional commutation inductor circuit, is proposed.

A new zero-voltage switching DC/DC boost converter

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1993
A pulsewidth-modulated (PWM) zero-voltage-switching quasi-resonant boost converter operating at constant switching frequency is presented. In contrast to the frequency-modulated (FM) zero-voltage-switching quasi-resonant boost converter, this converter possesses better controllability and higher operating performance, and overcomes the instability ...

Zero voltage soft switching converter with high input voltage

[Proceedings] Thirteenth International Telecommunications Energy Conference - INTELEC 91, 2002
High input voltage to a converter decreases its efficiency because turn-on loss of a main switch increases in proportion to the square of the input voltage. To decrease turn-on loss, the authors examined a zero-voltage-switched quasiresonant power converter. It causes severe voltage stress, which is about four or five times the input voltage, on a main
