A class of zero wasted area floorplan for VLSI design

1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002
A new approach to solve the floorplan area optimization problem is proposed. Using the analogy between a floorplan and a resistive network, the length and width of an individual block of a floorplan are represented by the voltage and current of a branch in a resistive network of a certain topology.

WasteBanned: Supporting Zero Waste Fashion Design Through Linked Edits

Proceedings of the 37th Annual ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology
The commonly used cut-and-sew garment construction process, in which 2D fabric panels are cut from sheets of fabric and assembled into 3D garments, contributes to widespread textile waste in the fashion industry. There is often a significant divide between the design of the garment and the layout of the panels.
