Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Orthogonal Polynomials on Radial Rays in the Complex Plane: Construction, Properties and Applications

open access: yesAxioms
Orthogonal polynomials on radial rays in the complex plane were introduced and studied intensively in several papers almost three decades ago. This paper presents an account of such kinds of orthogonality in the complex plane, as well as a number of new ...

The equivalence of zero span and zero semispan [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1984
In this paper we introduce the idea of the symmetric span of a continuum, and show that continua with zero symmetric span are in class W W . Continua with zero span have zero symmetric span, but the converse does not hold. We also show that if every subcontinuum of the continuum M M is in class W W ...

Gut microbiota diversity is prognostic in metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

On the Zeros of Polynomials with Restricted Coefficients

open access: yesAnnales Mathematicae Silesianae, 2023
Let P(z)=∑j=0najzjP\left( z \right) = \sum\nolimits_{j = 0}^n {{a_j}{z^j}} be a polynomial of degree n such that an ≥ an−1 ≥ . . . ≥ a1 ≥ a0 ≥ 0. Then according to Eneström-Kakeya theorem all the zeros of P (z) lie in |z| ≤ 1.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Lee-Yang zeros and phase transitions in nonequilibrium steady states

open access: yes, 2002
We consider how the Lee-Yang description of phase transitions in terms of partition function zeros applies to nonequilibrium systems. Here one does not have a partition function, instead we consider the zeros of a steady-state normalization factor in the

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Transcendentality of zeros of higher dereivatives of functions involving Bessel functions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1995
C.L. Siegel established in 1929 [Ges. Abh., v.1, pp. 209-266] the deep results that (i) all zeros of Jv(x) and J′v(x) are transcendental when v is rational, x≠0, and (ii) J′v(x)/Jv(x) is transcendental when v is rational and x algebraic.
