Tunable Spin‐Polarized States in Graphene on a Ferrimagnetic Oxide Insulator

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 36, Issue 8, February 22, 2024.
This work demonstrates the emergence of robust spin‐polarization in graphene on a ferrimagnetic insulating oxide Tm3Fe5O12 (TmIG) with large spin‐splitting energy of up to hundreds of meV. Moreover, the induced spin‐splitting energy can be tuned over a broad range by field cooling technique.

Polarimetric Retrieval of Raindrop Size Distribution: Double‐Moment Normalization Approach and Machine Learning Techniques

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 51, Issue 1, 16 January 2024.
Abstract Retrieving raindrop size distribution (DSD) is essential to understanding precipitation processes. Conventional approaches based on polarimetric radar (e.g., polynomial regression) struggle to accurately capture the inherent nonlinearity between DSD parameters and radar measurables.

Navigation Path Following Platform for a Greenhouse Shuttle Robot Using the State‐flow Method

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Localization is an important method for autonomous indoor robots to recognize their positions. Generally, the navigation of a mobile robot is conducted using a camera, Lidar, and global positioning system. However, for an indoor environment, GPS is unavailable. Therefore, a, state‐trajectory tracking method is utilized based on a Lidar map.

Dissipative Hydrodynamics and Heavy Ion Collisions

open access: yes, 2006
Recent discussions of RHIC data emphasized the exciting possibility that the matter produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions shows properties of a near-perfect fluid.

A quasi-analytical modal approach for computing Casimir interactions in periodic nanostructures

open access: yes, 2012
We present an almost fully analytical technique for computing Casimir interactions between periodic lamellar gratings based on a modal approach. Our method improves on previous work on Casimir modal approaches for nanostructures by using the exact form ...

How to Formulate Non-Equilibrium Local States in QFT? --General Characterization and Extension to Curved Spacetime--

open access: yes, 2003
The essence of a general formulation to accommodate non-equilibrium local states in relativistic quantum field theory is explained from the viewpoint of comparison at a spacetime point between unknown generic states to be characterized as such states and

Reentrant phase transitions and van der Waals behaviour for hairy black holes

open access: yes, 2015
We study the extended phase space thermodynamics for hairy AdS black hole solutions to Einstein-Maxwell-$\Lambda$ theory conformally coupled to a scalar field in five dimensions.

Interplay between single-stranded binding proteins on RNA secondary structure

open access: yes, 2013
RNA protein interactions control the fate of cellular RNAs and play an important role in gene regulation. An interdependency between such interactions allows for the implementation of logic functions in gene regulation.

All-optical $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric amplitude to phase modulator

open access: yes, 2015
We study electromagnetic field propagation through a planar three-waveguide coupler with linear gain and loss, in a configuration that is the optical analog of a quantum $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric system, and provide its closed-form analytic propagator. At
