3D investigation and modeling of the geometric effects on porosity in packed beds

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract In porous beds, physical boundaries restrict particle arrangement, leading to inhomogeneous porosity. This paper reports on the porosity profiles that are the result of geometric effects on monodisperse packed beds in cylindrical and cubic arrangements. Special focus is given to the influence of edges and corners in cubic geometries.

Comparison of DeePMD, MTP, GAP, ACE and MACE Machine‐Learned Potentials for Radiation‐Damage Simulations: A User Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
The authors evaluated six machine‐learned interatomic potentials for simulating threshold displacement energies and tritium diffusion in LiAlO2 essential for tritium production. Trained on the same density functional theory data and benchmarked against traditional models for accuracy, stability, displacement energies, and cost, Moment Tensor Potential ...

QPRC-Based DC-Link Stabilization of IFZ-Converter Applied to Suppress CCR in BLDCM Drives

open access: yesIEEE Access
The brushless dc motor (BLDCM) drives are adversely affected by commutation current ripple (CCR), which leads to increased torque ripple and degraded performance. The dc-dc converter based-BLDCM drive topology is widely preferred to suppress CCRs.

Zeta functions and topological entropy of the Markov-Dyck shifts

open access: yes, 2007
The Markov-Dyck shifts arise from finite directed graphs. An expression for the zeta function of a Markov-Dyck shift is given. The derivation of this expression is based on a formula in Keller (G. Keller, {\it Circular codes, loop counting, and zeta-functions}, J. Combinatorial Theory {\bf 56} (1991), pp. 75--83).

Crater Observing Bioinspired Rolling Articulator (COBRA)

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Crater Observing Bio‐inspired Rolling Articulator (COBRA) is a modular, snake‐inspired robot that addresses the mobility challenges of extraterrestrial exploration sites such as Shackleton Crater. Incorporating snake‐like gaits and tumbling locomotion, COBRA navigates both uneven surfaces and steep crater walls.

Elastic Fast Marching Learning from Demonstration

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents Elastic Fast Marching Learning (EFML), a novel approach for learning from demonstration that combines velocity‐based planning with elastic optimization. EFML enables smooth, precise, and adaptable robot trajectories in both position and orientation spaces.

Topological Hochschild homology and the Hasse-Weil zeta function

open access: yes, 2016
We consider the Tate cohomology of the circle group acting on the topological Hochschild homology of schemes. We show that in the case of a scheme smooth and proper over a finite field, this cohomology theory naturally gives rise to the cohomological interpretation of the Hasse-Weil zeta function by regularized determinants envisioned by Deninger.

Encapsulated Non‐Exchangeable Na+ Ions Determining the Upper Limit of Al Inclusion in FAU—A Multiscale Simulation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
DFT computation, AIMD simulations, machine learning, statistical analysis, and experimental characterization reveal that the upper limit of Al inclusion in FAU zeolite synthesized under hydrothermal conditions is determined by the encapsulated non‐exchangeable Na+ ions.

Adaptive mixing formation control of multiquadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle systems

open access: yesAsian Journal of Control, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper presents a distributed adaptive mixing control (AMC) design for formation maintenance of systems of multiquadrotor UAVs (q‐UAVs) during commanded path‐tracking maneuvers. The proposed formation control scheme has a two‐level structure. The high level defines the desired trajectories for rigid and persistent formation acquisition and
