Short‐term resilience, long‐term costs: Reduced growth and increased erosion in the kelp Ecklonia radiata (phylum Ochrophyta) following repeated marine heatwaves

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, Volume 61, Issue 5, Page 1355-1370, October 2025.
Abstract Marine heatwaves (MHWs) have increased in frequency by 34% since 1990 and are projected to rise further with global ocean change, posing significant risks to marine ecosystems. Kelps (order Laminariales) provide essential habitats and play key ecological roles, but they are increasingly threatened by MHWs.

Exclusive Production of Phi Vector Meson During HERA-II [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The Hadron Electron Ring Accelerator (HERA) in Germany, which ran from 1992 to 2007, is to date the only high energy electron and proton collider. The ZEUS detector at HERA measured the collisions of 27.5 GeV electrons with 920 GeV protons.

Mouthfeel of Food and Beverages: A Comprehensive Review of Physiology, Biochemistry, and Key Sensory Compounds

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 24, Issue 4, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Mouthfeel is a complex and multidimensional sensory experience that plays an important role in how people perceive flavor and accept food and beverages. Although it is a key part of the eating and drinking experience, mouthfeel is still not clearly defined and is difficult to measure. This review explores mouthfeel from a flavor perspective by

How eriophyid mites shape metal metabolism in leaf galls on Tilia cordata

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 246, Issue 5, Page 2222-2242, June 2025.
Summary Metal metabolism in plant–galler interactions is largely unknown. We hypothesise that the mites manipulate metal distribution by sequestration of excessive levels and differential regulation of metalloproteins to support the main functions of gall‐nutrition, protection and microenvironment.

Environmentalism From a Confucian Perspective: Record of a Roundtable Discussion

open access: yesThe Philosophical Forum, Volume 56, Issue 3, Page 76-83, Autumn (Fall) 2025.
ABSTRACT The 四海为学 “Collaborative Learning” is an online academic forum that hosts a range of lectures, book discussions and roundtables each year, creating a space for collaboration, as well as bringing different opinions into a conversation. The roundtable on “Environmentalism” aligned with the forum's aims, bringing together three prominent scholars ...

On the nature of ceramics technology: from Empedocles to Dawkins

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 67, Issue 1, Page 55-71, February 2025.
Abstract This contribution discusses salient aspects of the development of ceramics technology from its invention to the present, and the role ceramics have played during the cultural development and technological progress of ancient and modern societies. The conjecture is being advanced that the transformation of ceramic production modes from holistic,

Hadron Spectroscopy at HERA

open access: yes, 2004
Inclusive photoproduction cross-sections of the neutral mesons eta, rho^0, f_0(980) and f_2(1270) have been measured by H1 and compared to the photoproduction of pi^+ in ep collisions at HERA.

Hypercholesterolemia and inflammation—Cooperative cardiovascular risk factors

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 55, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract Background Maintaining low concentrations of plasma low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDLc) over time decreases the number of LDL particles trapped within the artery wall, slows the progression of atherosclerosis and delays the age at which mature atherosclerotic plaques develop.

Events with Isolated Charged Leptons and Large Missing Transverse Momentum at HERA

open access: yes, 2004
Striking events with isolated charged leptons, large missing transverse momentum and large transverse momentum of the hadronic final state were observed at the electron proton collider HERA in a data sample corresponding to a luminosity of about 130 pb-1.
