From Anionic to Ziegler-Natta Polymerization: Application to the Determination of the Reactivity of Ziegler-Natta Active Centers

1987
Living anionic lithium-ended polymer is transformed into a soluble Ziegler-Natta Ti (III)/Li-based system. The latter exhibits a high efficiency as at least 80% of C-Ti bonds participate in the homo- and co-polymerization of ethylene and propene, leading to vinylicolefinic type block copolymers.

Ziegler-Natta catalysis I. Mechanism of polymerization of $alpha;-olefins with Ziegler-Natta catalysts*1

Journal of Catalysis, 1964
Abstract A mechanism for the polymerization of olefins is proposed. An essentially octahedrally coordinated ion of a transition element with empty or nearly empty t2g orbitals carrying in its coordination sphere one alkyl group and having one vacant octahedral position is supposed to be the active center.
