Trace tea polyphenols enabling reversible dendrite-free zinc anode

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2022
Zinc ion batteries (ZIBs) suffer from severe corrosion effects and dendrite growth on the unstable anode/electrolyte interface (AEI) during the plating/stripping process. Therefore, it is of great significance to build a stable AEI enabling a long lifetime for ZIBs.

Cooperativity in Chiroptical Sensing with Dendritic Zinc Porphyrins

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2005
Zinc porphyrin-appended dendrimers, 12PZn, 18PZn, 24PZn, and 36PZn, containing 12, 18, 24, and 36 zinc porphyrin units, respectively, were synthesized using zinc porphyrin dyad (2PZn) and triad (3PZn) as precursors. Although these dye-functionalized dendrimers all serve as chiroptical sensors for an asymmetric bipyridine (RR- and SS-Py2), the sensing ...

Additives for Suppressing Zinc Dendrites in Rechargeable Zinc Metal Batteries

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2015
Rechargeable zinc-based battery systems hold great promise for future energy storage devices due to their low cost and high theoretical energy density.1 However, the development of portable or stationary rechargeable zinc batteries has been hindered by several critical issues.

Characteristics of electrochemically grown dendritic metallic zinc

Optik, 2011
Abstract A simple electrochemical process has been implemented to fabricated fractal structured leaf-like metallic zinc. The fabricated material was structurally characterized using X-ray diffraction that reveals the hexagonal unit cell structure. Also the growth of the structure is anisotropic.

The critical overpotential for zinc dendrite formation

Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, 1979
The critical overpotential for zinc dendrite growth is determined as 173 mV by the method described by Popovet al. [1]. It was shown that this procedure can be applied successfully to metal deposition processes when there is a large codeposition of hydrogen.

Zinc electrode with reduced dendritic propagation

Journal of Power Sources, 2007
Microporous separators conventionally used in lead-acid accumulators are proposed to substitute rayon-type separator during discharge of zinc anode alkaline accumulators, while the same accumulator is charged mainly through rayon-type separator. Thus the positive qualities of rayon-type and microporous-type separators are amalgamated.

Dendrite growth directions in aluminum-zinc alloys

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2006
The dendrite growth directions in fcc aluminum-zinc alloys have been measured by electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) as a function of the zinc concentration,c o . In specimens produced by directional or Bridgman solidification, 〈100〉 dendrites were observed up to 25 wt pct Zn, whereas ...

Manipulating Crystallographic Orientation of Zinc Deposition for Dendrite‐free Zinc Ion Batteries

Advanced Energy Materials, 2021
AbstractThe dendrite issues associated with zinc anode lead to safety hazards and sluggish reaction kinetics, and largely restrain widespread application of aqueous zinc ion batteries (ZIBs). Herein, a functional separator composed of cellulose nanofibers and graphene oxide (CG) is developed for dendrite‐free and exceptionally stable ZIBs, realized by ...

ChemInform Abstract: GROWTH OF ZINC DENDRITES IN ACIDIC ZINC CHLORIDE SOLUTIONS

Chemischer Informationsdienst, 1982
AbstractIn einer elektrochemischen Zelle (Zn‐Elektroden, Ag/AgCl‐Bezugselektrode, wäßrige ZnCl2 ‐Lösung mit HCI‐Zusatz) wurde die Dentritbildung auf polykristallinem Zn untersucht.
