Electric cell voltage at etching and deposition of metals under an inhomogeneous constant magnetic field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The self-organized electric cell voltage of the physical circuit is calculated at etching and deposition of metals at the surface of a magnetized ferromagnetic electrode in an electrolyte without passing an external electrical current.

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

The effect of ultrasonic irradiation on the microstructure and corrosion rate of a Zn–4.8wt.% Al galvanising alloy used in high performance construction coatings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The microstructure and corrosion resistance of a Zn–4.8 wt.% Al alloy, typically used for high performance galvanised coatings for construction, was modified by the application of ultrasound during solidification.

Drug‐Free Thrombolysis Mediated by Physically Activated Micro/Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of particle‐mediated thrombolytic effects (thermal, mechanical, and chemical) and their activating physical stimuli (light, ultrasound, and magnetic field) in drug‐free thrombolysis. ABSTRACT Thrombus‐associated disorders rank among the world's leading causes of death, with ischemic heart disease and stroke as the main contributors.

Loss of AP-3 function affects spontaneous and evoked release at hippocampal mossy fiber synapses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Synaptic vesicle (SV) exocytosis mediating neurotransmitter release occurs spontaneously at low intraterminal calcium concentrations and is stimulated by a rise in intracellular calcium.

A Printed Zinc‐Ion Microbattery with Extended Shelf Life and Durability for Energy Autonomous Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully printed aqueous zinc‐ion microbattery (ZnIB) enabled by graphene‐decorated zinc anode and printed MnO@NC cathode using sustainable aqueous‐based ink formulations. The printed 3D electrodes ensure uniform zinc deposition, low overpotential, and long‐term stability.

Improved alkaline electrochemical cell [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Addition of lead ions to electrolyte suppresses zinc dendrite formation during charging cycle. A soluble lead salt can be added directly or metallic lead can be incorporated in the zinc electrode and allowed to dissolve into the ...
