Structure of hydrocarbon radicals in zinc dialkyldithiophosphates

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 1971
1. A study has been made of the infrared absorption spectra of dialkyldithiophosphoric acids containing hydrocarbon radicals of different structure. 2. The valence vibrations of the bonds P= S, P-S, and C-O-(P) correspond to the frequency ranges 651–671, 507–550, and 967–1045 cm−1. 3. The structure of the hydrocarbon radicals

Interaction between zinc dialkyldithiophosphate and amine

Lubrication Science, 1989
AbstractThis paper reports work on complex formation from ZDP and various aliphatic amines, and their equilibrium states in oil, adsorptivities and antiwear properties are investigated. Complex formation from ZDP and amine was proven by isolation and identification of solid crystals, and various complexes were found from mono‐ and diamines. The complex

Thick Film Formation by Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphates

A S L E Transactions, 1983
A series of pure zinc dialkyldithiophosphates have been tested on high-frequency reciprocating test device. The formation of thick chemical films during friction testing was monitored using contact resistance measurements.

Adsorption Studies With Radiolabeled Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate

Journal of Tribology, 1986
Adsorption of zinc di-n-octyldithiophosphate synthesized with radioactive 65Zn has been studied on iron, steel, silica, and carbon. Adsorption on iron powder in an inert atmosphere is described by Elovich kinetics and Langmuir type isotherms. Adsorption equilibrium was not complete even after ten days.

Nanomechanical properties of films derived from zinc dialkyldithiophosphate

Tribology Letters, 1998
We have applied scanning force microscopes to the problem of determining the nanomechanical properties and topography of films derived from the antioxidant/antiwear oil additive zincdialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP). The enhanced capabilities of the interfacial force microscope (IFM) are exploited to obtain quantitative force-displacement data and pre- and

Genotoxicity studies with a blend of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate lubricant additives

Mutation Research/Genetic Toxicology, 1983
The mutagenic activity of a blend of primary zinc dialkyldithiophosphate lubricant additives suspended in process oils and a blend of the process oils alone was investigated in agar layer cultures of Salmonella typhimurium TA1535, TA1537, TA1538, TA98 and TA100, both with and without the incorporation of a rat liver microsomal activation system (S9 ...

Friction and Wear Behavior of Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate Additive

Tribology Transactions, 2000
A method has been developed for monitoring the film-forming properties of antiwear additives in rolling-sliding, lubricated contacts. This makes it possible to study both the kinetics of reaction film growth and also the evolution of the film morphology as a function of rubbing time.

Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) Film Formation and Friction Properties of Molybdenum Phosphate Additive in Combined Condition with Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate (ZnDTP)

Tribology Transactions
This article describes experimental studies on low friction film formation of molybdenum phosphate (MoP) in combination with zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZnDTP).

Microstructural aspects of lubricated mild wear with zinc dialkyldithiophosphate

Wear, 1986
Abstract The microstructure of wear particles formed under boundary lubrication with a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) is investigated in the analytical scanning transmission electron microscope. This is made possible by the generation of wear particles in foil form. Physical and chemical data are reported and correlated with surface analysis data
