Friction and Wear Behavior of Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate Additive

Tribology Transactions, 2000
A method has been developed for monitoring the film-forming properties of antiwear additives in rolling-sliding, lubricated contacts. This makes it possible to study both the kinetics of reaction film growth and also the evolution of the film morphology as a function of rubbing time.

The Chemistry of the Thermal Degradation of Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate Additives

A S L E Transactions, 1981
A mechanism for the thermal decomposition of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate additives has been proposed that accounts for the major degradation products and their dependence on the nature of the alkyl group. The proposed mechanism generally follows well-known rules of phosphorus chemistry. The major points are as follows.

Improving the aging resistance of asphalt by addition of Zinc dialkyldithiophosphate

Fuel, 2006
The aging properties of asphalts are evaluated using high pressure-gel permeation chromatography (HP-GPC) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The effect of a small amount (1 wt%) of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) on the chemical and physical properties, and molecular weight distribution of asphalts is studied.

Structure of hydrocarbon radicals in zinc dialkyldithiophosphates

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 1971
1. A study has been made of the infrared absorption spectra of dialkyldithiophosphoric acids containing hydrocarbon radicals of different structure. 2. The valence vibrations of the bonds P= S, P-S, and C-O-(P) correspond to the frequency ranges 651–671, 507–550, and 967–1045 cm−1. 3. The structure of the hydrocarbon radicals

Interaction between zinc dialkyldithiophosphate and amine

Lubrication Science, 1989
AbstractThis paper reports work on complex formation from ZDP and various aliphatic amines, and their equilibrium states in oil, adsorptivities and antiwear properties are investigated. Complex formation from ZDP and amine was proven by isolation and identification of solid crystals, and various complexes were found from mono‐ and diamines. The complex

Thick Film Formation by Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphates

A S L E Transactions, 1983
A series of pure zinc dialkyldithiophosphates have been tested on high-frequency reciprocating test device. The formation of thick chemical films during friction testing was monitored using contact resistance measurements.
