Efficient Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution Enabled by Defect‐ and Interface‐Induced Dual Built‐in Electric Fields in a ZnIn2S4/1T‐2H WS2 Heterojunction

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
An N, Sv‐ZnIn2S4/1T‐2H WS2 composite photocatalyst is constructed via an in situ hydrothermal‐solvothermal strategy, simultaneously forming a defect‐induced p‐n homojunction in ZnIn2S4 and a type‐II heterojunction with hybrid 1T/2H WS2. The coupled dual built‐in electric fields promote charge separation and direct photoexcited electrons toward sulfur ...

Nature‐Positive Materials Engineering: Carbon Electrodes from Satoyama Biomass

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
Nature‐positive materials engineering can link satoyama forest stewardship with the design of carbon electrodes for batteries, supercapacitors, and electrocatalysis. By turning underused firewood and charcoal resources into functional carbons, this approach reduces mining footprints while supporting biodiversity, landscape resilience, and regional ...

Media‐Dependent Growth, Stress Responses, and Metal Accumulation Patterns in Azolla imbricata (Roxb.) Nakai Exposed to As, Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn: Individual and Combination Effects (Synergistic, Antagonistic, and Additive)

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, we examined metal accumulation and biochemical responses of Azolla imbricata (Roxb.) Nakai exposed to water medium (WM) and nutrient medium (NM) under single and combined (co‐exposure) treatments with five metals (As, Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn) at 10% environmentally relevant concentrations.

Oxidative Stress Biomarkers in the Shrimp Macrobrachium amazonicum (Heller, 1862): Assessment in an Environmental Preservation Area in the Brazilian Amazon

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Anthropogenic activities generate a significant amount of pollutants that are released into the environment, causing physiological and ecological disturbances. Among the xenobiotics present in aquatic ecosystems, numerous chemical and organic compounds have oxidative potential or are metabolized through oxidative processes, which may amplify ...

Synergistic Toxicity of Low‐Concentration Metal Mixture on Male Rats: Reproductive, Renal, and Hepatic Effects

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mining plays a crucial role in economic development, but improper management can lead to severe environmental degradation. Particularly for iron ore, mining generates vast amounts of tailings often stored in unstable dams. This study aims to investigate the toxicological impacts of environmentally relevant concentrations of metals mixture ...

Nesting ecology of an ice‐associated seabird, Kittlitz's murrelet, at the northern edge of its range

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, EarlyView.
We studied the Kittlitz's murrelet, an ice‐associated seabird of conservation concern, at the northern edge of its range. Over a 2‐year period, we estimated nest density and success at 2 sites, captured and telemetered nesting murrelets, and tested the use of a thermal camera to improve nest detection.
