An overview of the plant-mediated synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles and their antimicrobial potential

, 2020
The emergence of resistance by microorganisms to multiple antibiotics and the development of alternative strategies to control the growth of detrimental microorganisms have led to the introduction of nanoparticles as novel antimicrobial agents ...

Granulation of Zinc Oxide

Chemical Engineering Research and Design, 2005
Granulation is an important process within many well-developed industries such as pharmaceutical, food and fertilizer production, but also with increasing application outside these ‘traditional’ fields. This paper examines how granulation could be used to ‘improve’ the use of a material, by the study of the granulation of zinc oxide powder with a ...

Nanotripods of Zinc Oxide

2006 IEEE Conference on Emerging Technologies - Nanoelectronics, 2006
We report the discovery of two-dimensional (2-D) nanotripods of ZnO, a new member of the ZnO nanostructure family. These planar nanotripods are synthesized via a novel approach known as catalyst-free combust-oxidized mesh (CFCOM) process that we developed using a ZnO factory furnace.

Sintering of Zinc Oxide

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1963
Sintering studies have been conducted with single crystal spheres of zinc oxide in air at total pressures of 10−3 to 1.0 atm over the range 1050° to 1250°C. Quantitative observations were made on the rate of growth of a neck between the spheres. No change in the distance between the geometrical centers of the spheres was observed.

Zinc oxide nanotetrapods

Nanotechnology, 2004
The carrier gas flow rate, a key parameter for controlling the morphology and size in the synthesis of nanomaterials by thermal evaporation—vapour phase transport—condensation processes, can significantly affect the shape and size of the products. Besides nanoscale ZnO dendrites and wires, a uniform tetrapod-shaped ZnO nanostructure has also been ...

The distribution of interstitial zinc in zinc oxide

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1967
A method is described which enables the position of interstitial zinc within the crystals of zinc oxide powders to be determined. The crystals are etched to various depths with acid, and the excess zinc content of each fraction is estimated. It is shown that the distribution of the interstitial zinc is dependent upon the species of chemisorbed oxygen ...

“Colloidal” Zinc Oxide

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1937
Abstract Some ten years ago, when so-called “colloidal” zinc oxides were being introduced to the rubber manufacturing industry, two samples were investigated to determine their behavior in rubber compared with ordinary good quality zinc oxide used in rubber.

Zinc oxide varistors

IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine, 1989
An overview is given of zinc oxide varistors, which are made of semiconducting ceramics with highly nonohmic current-voltage characteristics, which originate at the grain boundaries. These varistors are widely utilized to protect electric power lines and electronic components against dangerous voltage surges.
